I haven't posted three times in a day for a long time but I want to point you toward this post. See,
randomling offered ficlets, and I asked for one based on trickc and hot chocolate. She wrote me Euro era trickc braces fic. Let me repeat that Euro era trickc braces fic. Anyone that knows me will know how much glee I had when I read the story. I had the full squeeing hand across mouth squeaking glee. So go, read.
Earlier I rubbed my hand across my forehead and realised it was sore. Which is when I remembered I'd walloped my head against the metal headboard of my bed this morning. Now I can't stop poking at the sore spot. Ouch. *is pathetic*
Meme now. The 10 Things I Assume You Know About Me meme which is in
(1) I live in England, which means a big majority of my flist are hours behind me due to time zones so I'm having tea or settling down for the night while they're just starting work.
(2) My real name is Terri, and I don't care if people call me that online at all. It's also not short for anything, despite certain people thinking it's funny calling me Terrance.
(3) I'm a stay at home mam by choice, and am perfectly happy with that decision.
(4) I'm multi fannish. Always have been, always will be. Some people don't seem to get that, but all the time I'm talking popslash, I'm also reading in dozens of different fandoms, reading comms for other fandoms, the only thing I don't do is write in other fandoms.
(5) I have no reading filters, if I friend you I'll read you. I tend to comment a lot and like to read about people's lives, no detail is too boring for me. I used to automatically friend back anyone that friended me, but I don't do that now. However, if you comment and let me know you're there, I'll almost certainly friend you back.
(6) The majority of my journal is public. All fannish stuff is, and most of the boring rl stuff. I have no problem talking about taking C to school in one paragraph and needing rimming recs in the next so if you want the fannish you'll get the rl too, I'm sly like that. The only flocked things tend to be me bitching on about silly things, and the times I get all stupid about family situations, and really, no one needs to read that.
(7) Talking of which. I refer to my boys sometimes, which is James, my other half, and my son, Corey, who's 11. I also refer to my sister ( Kayleigh or Kay ) she's 12 years younger than me and has a different dad, but she's my sister, there are no halves about the situation. Also Chris ( my brother )and I'll also mention my two nieces, two nephews, nanna, and mam and dad.
(7) I've written in three fandoms. The Sentinel, Mutant X and popslash. Wait, I lie. It's four now. I'll be honest, bandom has grabbed me and I know for a fact I'll be writing more. Mikeyway, how so hot!? I like writing, and have a website where I post my real stories. I say real because I often ficlet for people. Stories that are unbeta read and usually done in comments for fun. Which means varying quality, some I look back at and think, that was good, others, what was I on?!
(8) I love reading darkfic. Love it a lot. Give me a story full of angst and h/c, heavy on the hurt, and I'll be happy. I also love crackfic, badfic, schmoop, practically every kind of story out there, but angst and h/c is what I love the most.
(9) I mod a few comms, and enjoy doing so. I like giving back to fandom, because I love fandom. A lot ""
(10) My fannish obsessions are powerful things. Example, the whole Without a Trace thing I'm going through now. I fall for something, and spend weeks finding eps/footage, reading fic, just drowning in this new fandom. I also never leave fandoms behind, I just keep adding more.
Talking of writing, I've so caught the writing bandom bug, but the fandom is huge and there's so many stories and just. Wow. How can anyone even think of doing something new? I know so many people in popslash, and it's cosy and familiar and bandom feels like I'm stepping into a huge new world, clutching the hands of some people I know with a I love Mikey badge pinned to my chest.
Finally, tomorrow I'm announcing the new round over at
pop_appreciate. I think it's the right time, a little fun in the post holiday slump is always welcome. So if you're interested, go check out the comm :)

Date: 2008-01-14 12:55 am (UTC)That is exactly what I keep thinking about bandom. It feels like everything possible has already been written and that makes it so very challenging to dive into (as the half a dozen stalled fics on my 'puter will attest to).
I've been meaning to say this for ages - I have the first season of Without A Trace on DVD (it was one of my earliest LJ fandoms) and I'd be more than happy to chuck it in the post to you if you'd like to borrow it. (Seriously, I never watch it, it would make it feel like it was worth buying!) It has a few behind the scenes things, a couple of commentaries and lots of deleted/extended scenes that you might find fun to watch. It is a Region 1 dvd though (I tend to buy US dvd sets, they're cheaper) so you would need a multi-region player to watch it.

Date: 2008-01-14 10:53 am (UTC)It really is a challenge. I only posted my MCR story because I got hit by inspiratuon and just wrote. If I actually sit and think about plotting a story, I end up thinking about how many are out there anyway, and get a little intimidated.
That's a wonderful offer, and one I'll take you up on for sure. Region 1 is fine as I bought a multi-region dvd player for the reason you did, cheaper DVDs.
I'll post my address here, then edit it out. Thank you so much!
