I had the same issue with bags-for-life and other decent carriers and I took them down to the local hospice shop and they were DELIGHTED with them so that might be an option for you?

Thank you for your excellent idea. We have a local charity shop and they happily took all the spares. Though, I did go through them as suggested by Pen above, as some were a bit crumbly. However, I was still left with many good quality bags.
