Well, they told us it was because the radio beams that send off the info won't go through metal, which sounds like a load of rubbish to me. Especially so as the box itself is wood inside, so surely those radio waves could go backwards and out of the house if metal was an issue? Honestly, I don't think they knew what they were talking about.
