Firstly, I have to say happy belated birthday to the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] msktrnanny. I hope you had a good day.

I guess I should do a Christmas recap, and shall do so, right under

Christmas Eve was the usual mixture of being busy and enjoying the day. I really love Christmas Eve a lot, it has its own special magic that you can't help but enjoy. There was no putting out of carrots and mince pie for Santa and his reindeers, but that was pretty much expected. We drove round to see various relatives and brought back gifts to our house. Which is still a bit of a novelty as this is only the second Christmas we've spent at home, as we usually went to mam's. So presents were sorted, food prepared for the next day and really we just had a low key lovely night. Mam stayed until about 10:30 then went home, then James and I went to bed about half 12 and got a phone call from Kay saying mam had been texting her saying how lonely she was, how no one loved her, how no one had bought her anything for Christmas and how it was the worst Christmas ever. Kay was so pissed off and said no way was she having Christmas dinner at hers which I could understand. After talking to her a while I just went to sleep. I made a vow this Christmas that mam being a dick wasn't going to spoil things, I mean, it's a case of when you get the calls about what horrible kids we are, what terrible presents we give and all that crap. They're inevitable so really it's easier to accept it'll happen and just move on.

Christmas day we slept in, Corey loves his sleep so we never have to get up early at Christmas. We came downstairs and he ripped into his presents, and seemed to like them all. He mainly got playstation games and books and has happily been reading/playing ever since. Kayleigh bought him a mobile, which I was little wtf?! about because Corey never goes anywhere he'd need to use a mobile, but he loves it so what do I know? I bought James a laptop, a second hand apple i book tangerine which we got for a fantastic price. It's perfect for what he wants to be online for and he seems happy with it, he also got the new Sunderland shirt, clothes and a Dr Who mug that makes noises and is just amazing! So much fun! His family got him various stuff and an amazing amount of alcohol, I swear we've enough to last until next Christmas.

Okay, there was a paragraph here about my presents and it was sad and whiny so it's gone and rightly so. I'll just tell you the highlight, which was mam bought me 200 GB of memory and now Silver doesn't yell at me all the time and refuse to play programmes due to lack of memory. YAY!

Also yay, new Dr Who! So. Much. Love!

But man, remind me never to go to the shops after Christmas. We took Silver to go get his new memory installed. We got stuck in a traffic jam getting to metro center, had to battle the crowds to get to the computer shop, all the while carrying poor Silver who seemed to weigh a ton. Wait for hours for them to format him, then the kicker. It took us 90 minutes to get off the top level of the multi story car park we'd parked on. With us being on the top level people on the levels below were filtering into the lines, which had a knock on effect on the cars above. 90 minutes to move from one side of the level to the ramps, then the car in front let in so many cars in front of him, and yeah I know it's polite, but damn you car! We'd been waiting over an hour at that point, you don't let in two cars in front of you. However, we got home eventually and all my footage was transferred to the new drive and the new mouse installed. No sticking and shooting of the page cursor, it's amazing! And now Silver is home and things are good.

There may be another post today because I've been away from this place for a few days which means I have to come back and spam like crazy ;). There's some SeSa stories I've adored and I thought I'd make like a lemming and share. My recipient liked her story too which was a relief, so yeah.

ETA: People may know this, but I sort of have a thing for Chris/Nick. [livejournal.com profile] seiyaharris wrote me a Chris/Nick ficlet for Christmas that just....they don't want to say goodbye! *sniff* Thank you again, Becca!

I guess almost everyone has less than stellar interactions with their relatives at Christmas. It's sad but almost inevitable I think. All that pressure to enjoy things and to be a happy-family-together is bound to bring out the worse in people.

Thank you for the link to [livejournal.com profile] seiyaharris journal. I'm not that fond of Chris/Nick, but I also found a wonderful little Lance/Nick and a crossover with Lance and some guy from a show I've never seen but the story was wonderful all the same. I must remember to write feedback.

Yeah, Christmas has such huge expectations built around it. That's why I was perfectly happy to just stay at home with James and Corey.

Becca is a lovely writer, she really should write more often. The Chris/Nick killed me because I so love them together. I just think of Nick, so big and blonde and Chris, dark and smaller and I melt.

Which reminds me. I must go back to your journal. Your icons weren't loading for me earlier when I was catching up.

Hee! I feel exactly the same about Nick and Lance, except Lance is blond, but the rest is the same :-)

I noticed they didn't for some hours this afternoon. I know the BIL has finally got the bigger-faster-better server he's been waiting for since sometime this summer, so I guess some kind of switching is going to take place soon / is already underway.

I'm with you there too. I know in no way Chris can be called small, but he's smaller and that hits my buttons so much.

That's great news about the server!
