See, the thing is, it's awkward. Because Frank knows, of course. He can't not know. Just like Gerard knew when Mikey and Ray started hooking up -hell, the whole internet knew, thanks to the picture of Ray curled around him teaching him how to play- just like Ray knew when Gerard and Mikey found comfort in each other at the Paramour. Now it's all three of them, and it works. It's better.

For everyone except Frank. For Frank it's just awkward. It's not like he hasn't had his own times. He fooled around with Mikey when they were both working for Eyeball, he fooled around with Ray to take the stress off when Matt was being a dick, he fooled around with Gerard as a continuation of their fuck heteronormativity and the douchy Linkin Park fans thing. He doesn't begrudge them their times either, shit happens. But it's kinda sorta obvious to anyone that looks that they love each other, and he knows he can't be a part of that. He just fooled around.

So they're doing the photoshoot, and she's got them all clustered together, all three of them looking fucking hot. Gerard's head is on Mikey's tigerprint shoulder, and Ray's chin is resting on Mikey, and he can't really see out of the corner of his eye, but it looks like Ray's arm is slung around Gerard's back. And mom raised him to be a gentleman, right? So he inches away, gives them their space. Not enough to make it obvious to the photographer, but enough to be respectful.

They take half a dozen like that, Mikey constantly encouraged by the photographer to show some passion. Normally Mikey stymieing the woman would make him giggle, but right now all it does is make him irritated. She's had to have been past spreads, she's pretty stupid if she thinks she can be the one to change Mikey. He scowls, and then scowls even more when the photographer tells him he's doing a good job. He's not doing it for her. He's doing it because somehow, even as a famous rockstar, with a kick ass new cd that he'll get to play to thousands of fans, his life still sucks.

Even though the photographer seems happy, his boys obviously notice. It's subtle, Ray nudging Gerard's back, Gerard turning his head on Mikey's shoulder. It's subtle, until it's not; Mikey's reaction is to reach out and curl his fingers into Frank's hair. Frank tries to pull away and Mikey's grip tightens, and fuck if that isn't hot as hell.

He's not sure what it means. Clearly they'll have to talk about shit. For now Frank just gleefully flips off the photographer when she tells them it's not the look she's going for. He doesn't care about her look.

Oh. That is perfect!

I love that. The sense of history between them all and how Frank is on the outskirts until he's not. And the photographer, trying to change Mikey.
