Approximate Sunlight - Frank/Gerard

Gerard links their fingers together at the end of Shell Games.

Frank is pressed against Gerard's back, breathing lightly against his neck, his chin hooked over Gerard's shoulder.

They're here because of Frank. He's the one who suggested they borrowed a golf cart from one of the guys from Primus.

Gerard didn't think they would have enough time after their set to get to the Evropa 2 tent but they did, and now they're holding hands and swaying with the music, slow dancing from their little corner of the stage while the first notes of Approxiate Sunlight sound.

By the time the set is over (one of the most inspiring set Gerard has ever seen), Frank is nuzzling at the nape of Gerard's neck and giggling into it. He doesn't want it to end. He just wants to stay here with Frank for the rest of the night and dance with him until sunrise.

They don't have a lot of time to stick around though. They barely have time to thank the band for the amazing show because they have a bus call to make and it's already past midnight.

Their golf cart is gone when they climb off the stage, still high on good music and good times, laughing about everything and nothing in particular.

"We could steal one," Frank suggests, pointing his chin at this tiny cart that looks a bit wonky, covered in mud and dented as if someone mistook it for a 4 wheeler.

Gerard scans the backstage area for the cart's owner. Everyone looks too busy carrying Bright's Eyes gear off stage to notice Gerard and Frank jump into the golf cart.

They don't have to hotwire it because all of these carts have a start button which is very practical and a relief. The last time they had tried to hotwire a vehicle, it was their old van. Frank had failed to start it, almost electrocuting himself in the process, and they had to have the van towed back to Belleville.

As much as Gerard wants to be on time for the bus call and avoid pissing off everyone (especially Medhi), he has to stop by the merch table to buy a t-shirt, a couple of CDs and a button for Frank.

No one bothers them as they shop, even though a couple of girls stare at Gerard like he's the Messiah and giggle every so often. It doesn't annoy him. He's getting used to the staring and it's better than having people lick his face or follow him around.

They pick a shirt that they can both wear since they'll end up sharing it like everything else they own.

Of course, by the time they go back to the cart, the thing doesn't start and the trail up to the backstage area and the bus bay is blocked by thousands of people hiking to the camp site.

Their best bet is to leave their vehicle on the side of the trail and run as fast as their legs can carry them.

Gerard is panting and whizzing by the time they reach the bus but his heart feels light and warm.

Before he can catch his breath, Frank is pushing him against the back of the bus, his fingers twisting in Gerard's shirt and then they're kissing.

This is one of these moments where everything seems easy and perfect; like it used to be, back when they started the band and lived in the tiny van Elena bought them.

Frank hums against Gerard's mouth as he presses closer and Gerard's lips part open.

"This is just like a date," Gerard mumbles just as Frank slips his tongue inside Gerard's mouth.

Gerard's knees almost give out as Frank kisses him, his tongue dancing in Gerard's mouth, exploring it, so hot and perfect and his.

Frank tastes like tobacco and coffee; everything Gerard loves and wants.

He chases Frank's tongue for a moment, until they both pull apart, breathless and flushed.

"So the next step would be me inviting you upstairs for coffee," Frank says, giggling into the crook of Gerard's neck.

"I'm always up for coffee." Gerard lets out a honking laugh and grabs Frank's hand, before leading him inside the bus and to their bunk.
