Our downstairs toilet is on the side of the house, and for a while, I've been hearing a weird noise at ceiling height. At first, I thought it could be a slow leak or something, but no water damage was apparent. So, then I figured it must be the wind hitting the wall. Today I went outside and realised it's actually wasps that are getting into the wall. Now I know every time I'm in there my skin is crawling hearing the noise and knowing it's them moving around the bricks.
Now it's a case of waiting to see how much it'll be to get the problem sorted, as no way can we leave them. Thankfully none have got inside and I've shut the windows that are round the corner from the wasps, but seriously. Wasps. Why?!
It was very rainy and cool this afternoon, but that was nice after the hot days. So I was sitting with the window open next to me with a cup of mint tea and listening to the rain. Though, did have to answer the door to a parcel delivery man who brought me some dishwasher tablets to test. Which great, rub it in considering the dishwasher still isn't fixed. Now it's sunny and hot again, I suspect all the plants will have jumped up another few inches by tomorrow.
Tonight we're having a tomato sauce made with a load of different veggies and especially chopped courgettes. Soon we're going to look like the things. So if you follow me on Insta and I post something where I have a green tinge, you know why.

Yikes regarding the wasps! May that get resolved quickly and cheaply!

I've no idea how much the wasp solution will be, someone will come out and give a quote. Hopefully, it won't be too much. But whatever it is, they need to go.

I had a nest try to move into the roof behind the fascia/soffit about 10 years ago, conveniently right at head height! I was able to get wasp-killing foam (I don't think it had any snappier name) and sprayed it all over where I could see the gap they were getting in, and it took care of them. IDK if you can still get that sort of virulent biocide, or if your lot may be dug in too deeply for it to be effective, but it might be a route.
(The advantage of the foam is it clings to the surface, rather than getting everywhere as a spray would.)

It's good to know it may be possible to attempt a DIY job first. While the place they're entering isn't head height I will be able to reach standing on the step stool.
I'll have a look for that foam, I'd love to think it's as simple as filling the gap and getting them that way. And if it doesn't work, well, it'll be time to bring in the experts.

I had some wasps buzzing around awhile back but I wasn’t sure if there was a nest or anything. They went after awhile but the buzzing was pretty creepy

I don't like the buzzing. Thankfully, with these being on the side of the house they're keeping out of the way. But, I just don't like the idea that they're there.

Wasps, ick! Inside the wall, extra ick!

Extra ick is right.

Yes, please, definitely take lots of photos of your green-tinged self. I *will* want to see them. :)

A rainy and cool afternoon is just what you're longing for when it's scary hot. Though a rainy evening and night is better I love falling asleep to the sound of rain!
With all the veggies you're eating I wouldn't be suprised if you start turning into a vegetable yourself soon :-)

It turns out we also have a few bees living between the bricks, but apparently those are harmless and don't need dealing with.
It's raining again today, in fact it hasn't stopped since I woke up. It's nice to have the contrast of hot sunny days and these rainy cool ones.
I think you're right *g*
I've actually been googling baked courgette recipes today. So, that's next on my list to try.
