You can tell that it's the run-up to Christmas, as James doesn't have to wear uniform to work until after New Year now. He's also got his fairy lights wrapped around his leg, multicoloured ones this year. Though, he's actually had those on for a few days now, and of course, gets a lot of attention while out and about because of it.
He enjoyed his work meal on Saturday, though said for a high-end hotel and cost, the food wasn't that great. Plus, they were on a floor with no toilets, the men, and women's the next floor up, and the disabled ones, two floors up, which wasn't the best.
While he was there, I hung with the cats and watched Strictly. And to be honest, it was probably best I did on my own as I could rewind to see favourite parts again, and then fast-forward through the filler bits.
A nice moment. One of the female pros, Amy, was diagnosed with breast cancer and has been in treatment this year. She also broke her ankle recently, but the show has done their best to keep her involved as much as she could cope with, mostly by watching and being in the Clauditorium for the interviews after each dance.
This time she was in the pro dance, dancing for less than a minute and with arms only, while rocking the no-wig look. She looked so happy, and it was great to see.
Going in, I never expected Layton to win, and it was obvious by the interviews he'd given with Nikita that he didn't expect to win either. But it was also obvious he never expected to get to the final without being in more dance offs, and that seemed to mean so much to him that they'd only been in one. He's had so much vitriol thrown his way these last months, and yet, still got to the end smiling, and I beamed when for one of his talks after a dance he addressed some of the negativity but said, 'love will always win' and seeing how relaxed and happy he seemed, I think for him, it did.
The format for the final is, the judges pick one dance for the couples to re-perform, the couple pick a favourite, and a show dance which is new. So, I've shown the two top dances before, but I think both were performed better this time. As for the showdance, I liked it a lot, but felt for Nikita when he dropped his hat. But also laughed as it's been a running joke between them that Nikita has a big square head, and that hat really could have been a bit bigger.
I was happy with the actual winner, I like Ellie and Vito as a couple, and they danced really well, so all in all, it's been an excellent Strictly season for me.
Especially, as it also gave me the Nikita/Vito rooftop pro dance which remains of my most favourite things ever!
And that's it, I'm done. No more Strictly, Nikita and Layton talk... until the tour next year *g*

That's sad the food weren't as high-end as the place they ate it. Also boo! for having to get to another floor for the toilets!
It sounds like you and the cats had a very nice evening, yay!

They all had a good time, but it did seem like they'd crammed in as many parties as possible, and the food was lacking due to that.
But I had an excellent evening with the cats. They didn't mind all the rewinding and fast forwarding at all.
