I sort of did number one. I just ordered new checks, they have butterflies on them and a portion of the cost of them is donated to the Lupus Foundation (just not the Dorough Lupus foundation) and then they get a donation for every check I write (and the bank processes) too.

I have a couple family members with Lupus too.
