(no subject)

I have to wish happy belated birthday to the most lovely [livejournal.com profile] seiyaharris. She's cracked in the head, but also one of the loveliest people ever, even if she does do mean things in fic and not fix them! OMG! The baby! Happy birthday, honey. I hope you had a great day, you deserve it. *smooch*

Also, it was St George's Day yesterday, which means [livejournal.com profile] pensnest has issued her dragon challenge. You know what popslash needs is more dragons, so go read Pen's post here and think about signing up.

It was a busy weekend, Corey's slightly better but still has no voice to speak of and a nasty dragging bad chest. He was supposed to go back to school today but he's still not ready yet. Tonight is his last cub meeting too before he moves up to scouts and he's going to miss it, but considering he can't really speak and gets tired really easily just now it would be stupid to send him. I'm hoping one more day of rest will bring him up to speed, or at least enough that he can go back to school.

Other than that, it was a bootsale yesterday. It was at the site near the ocean and it was just lovely, such a beautiful day. Sadly I burned the hell out of my arms. Every year I forget how sensitive I am to the sun and end up with that damn rash and all crispy which isn't good at all. Especially as I gave myself a blinding headache which I nursed by wrapping myself in a blanket and watching the new Sharpe with my boys. The second part's on tonight and I'm looking forward to seeing if the dashing Sharpe can save the day, which is a yes of course, but we need to see how. Josh, that's why I couldn't get online, sorry. Soon, okay? We made a nice profit at the sale, but used £10 of that buying stuff off the woman from the next stall. She was moving and didn't want to take anything home, so sold us what she had left, which was a lot. So we have a nice lot of stock for the next sale. One thing I did feel bad about. We were selling bags of wool for the MiL at 50p a shot. This couple asked how much it would be for the full box. I didn't know how much was in there so he counted and there were 8 bags. I told them £5 for the lot and they happily paid. It wasn't until later I realised I'd totally overcharged them, I felt so guilty.

Saturday it was a drive then a visit to the movies. We saw Eight Below and it was so good. I was into the movie so much. It's about a sled dog team that was abandoned when the people had to evacuate the artic station due to a huge storm. The dogs are left alone for months, with the main character trying desperately to get back to them. But one of the dogs died. They were happily playing in the snow watching the northern lights and one fell down a cliff and he died and the other dog rested his chin on him and it was so sad and I was just crying so much. Especially because we were sitting next to a little girl who was sobbing. Then I cried again when they found Old Jack still attached to the chain, he was all buried in the snow and was about to retire but he didn't get free and he starved to death. Then again when they found Maya. It's a film I'd see again for sure.

The night time was supposed to be watching Dr Who then a chat date, but that didn't happen as I had company until late. But that was fine as we talked and watched Strictly Dance Fever and got all wtf!? at the results before watching Dr Who when they left. My friend doesn't like Dr Who. Can you believe it? She hasn't a fannish bone in her body at all and is quiet perplexed at the things I enjoy.

I think that's the down and dirty update. I haven't read LJ/online for real since Thursday night so I need to catch up, I did poke my nose in for brief moments and each time ended up sending mails to people about things that pissed me off. It's official, I'm getting cranky in my old age. Also, Firefox let me down for the first time in ages. Session saver didn't work when Silver crashed and I lost all my tabs, weeks worth of stories. It's to cry I tell you.

But I have written nearly 3000 words of a trickyfish story that's lodged itself in my brain and won't let go. Notice how it's not the lambs which us due first. Challenges, how I love and hate you. Which is why I joined Pen's challenge of course.

You'll be getting a mail today, luckily for you I didn't have anything in specific to rant to you about over the weekend. I'm thinking on something now though, I'll hit you with that soon now you've sort of asked ;)

[identity profile] digital-diva.livejournal.com 2006-04-24 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't feel lucky at all. You ran out of rants? But but but ... I'm rant-worthy, man! *pouts*

[identity profile] seiyaharris.livejournal.com 2006-04-24 12:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Everyone's been calling me names! "'cesty weirdo" "cracked in the head"! **cries** y'all are so mean! **cries some more**

*g* Thanking you kindly hon.

also, DEMON BABY THAT ATE THE WORLD! (alsoalso, there's a thing. A top secret thing that will hopefully be done next month for a particular date and maybe there will be a little bit of Sam and Dean and the baby but we will see. Yes.)

We call you names with love. It's just our way. *pets you*

A top secret thing with the DEMON BABY THAT ATE THE WORLD! I'm so excited right now!

[identity profile] seiyaharris.livejournal.com 2006-04-24 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
It's just as well I know y'all love me or I may cry allllllll day! lol

It's a much larger thing with lots of things but there may be a thing with the baby and it is not a demon baby and it's a whole thing lol
ext_1650: (killjoys Mikey/Ray)

[identity profile] turps33.livejournal.com 2006-04-24 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
But we do love you! Very much. Even if we call you names ;)

And lots of things! With a not demon baby but with a baby and I'm still excited!

[identity profile] seiyaharris.livejournal.com 2006-04-24 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I am very lucky to be so loved, even though it is in such an offensive manner! ;o)

lol it's a top secret thing to do with a certain someone being 21 possibly, yes. We shall see lol

um, sorry about your sunburn and Corey's lingering unwellness, but OMYGOD, THERE'S NEW SHARPE? NEW? ::emits noises that frighten dogs::

Is it Sean Bean? ::runs to check BBC America::
ext_1650: (timbertrick)

[identity profile] turps33.livejournal.com 2006-04-24 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee, yeah, it is new and features Sean Bean. It's called Sharpe's Challenge and they ended on a cliff hanger last night. I wish it were 9 o clock so I can see what happens!

[identity profile] ephemera.livejournal.com 2006-04-24 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
ouch ouch ouch on the sun burn. SPF 40+ is your friend, lady!

glad Corey's starting to feel bettter, though, poor lad.

Dr Who! yay! with the love!

also love for the story ;) and dragons!

[identity profile] turps33.livejournal.com 2006-04-24 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I have SPF 50 that I need to use in summer, problem is I didn't think it was warm enough to burn yet. Which just shows how wrong I was.

I'm glad he's feeling better too. Still, he hasn't said a word all day. It's like I'm alone in the house even though he's in the same room. I suspect he may have to go back with a note saying, I can't speak yet, tomorrow.

Dr Who! So much love! I sent you a squee back but my battery failed so I don't know if it reached you or not, but still. Torchwood can never be squeed over enough!

The story is prodding me and I haven't got past the first part. Think I can add a dragon into it somewhere? Surely there's a drug called dragon? ;)

[identity profile] ninjetti75.livejournal.com 2006-04-24 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
problem is I didn't think it was warm enough to burn yet

*headdesks repeatedly*

Terri, LUV, it's the UV in the sunlight that burns you. Skiers can get sunburned faces off the shiny SNOW; heat has nothing to do with it!

And if there's not a drug called "Dragon", I'm sure you could make a cool one up! Sounds all MX/S!s-like, wheeee!!

I know, I was stupid, especially as I know I'm sensitive to the sun anyway.

It really does, but I've sort of an idea for the dragon fic, maybe.

I told them £5 for the lot Heh! Hee! People who can't do mental arithmetic are just *asking* to be overcharged at car boot sales, it is entirely appropriate! (Anyway, £5 for a box of wool is a bargain.)

nearly 3000 words of a trickyfish story

*beams!*
ext_1650: (new bren)

[identity profile] turps33.livejournal.com 2006-04-24 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I have to agree, it is a bargain and he was perfectly happy to pay. I just felt guilty when I realised what I'd done.

The trickyfish story is eating my brain. The dog woke me up far too early this morning so I sat and wrote a few hundred words before getting James ready for work.

*sits up and takes notice* Trickyfish?!?! Yay!!!! *settles down to wait for finished story*

Poor Corey! I'm sending lots of get-well-soon wishes his way.

Poor you losing all those tabs! I uninstalled Session Saver a while ago because it just annoyed me, and went back to dragging all URLs to a special folder on my desktop. This folder is now beginning to look very full, I really must take more time to read stories!
ext_1650: (kevin)

[identity profile] turps33.livejournal.com 2006-04-24 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
You're such a good trickyfish cheerleader *g* But yeah, hopefully it won't take that long to finish.

Corey's getting better, he's eating at last and fingers crossed will be at school tomorrow.

That's an interesting idea about the folder. I rely on session saver and the tabs too much really. Especially this last fortnight when Corey's been off school. If I'm in a rush I tab anything to be read at my leisure, losing them all was horrible. No way can I remember what I had up there.

[identity profile] callsigns.livejournal.com 2006-04-24 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, I'm sending Corey get-well-quick thoughts. Poor kiddo, your description of him on the couch the other day really wrenched me.

I want to see Eight Below! I love Paul Walker! I love sled dogs! I only skimmed your description because I don't want to be spoiled. :)
ext_1650: (Dean (bayouskye))

[identity profile] turps33.livejournal.com 2006-04-24 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you :) He's getting better now though, eating and actually talking again which is a relief.

Eight Below is awesome, I loved it so much! I hope I didn't spoil you because some details need to be experienced unwarned.

[identity profile] ninjetti75.livejournal.com 2006-04-24 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, yay for a successful and enjoyable weekend, regardless! And I hope Corey is well soon.

And don't worry about the chat; it's just that I'm not off work again until Saturday. Ah well. I spent time yesterday getting ready for my challenge, instead, so it was all good.

I felt really bad not being able to chat. I was so looking forward to it then people came and rl interfered and I wanted to talk to you!

Next Saturday Corey's at cub camp, so unless James has plans I'm all yours. And even if he does, no reason to get up on Sunday, so late night. YAY!

[identity profile] ninjetti75.livejournal.com 2006-04-25 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Woot!

Catch ya Saturday, one end or the other!

When do you plan on getting up on a this Saturday?
ext_1650: (Default)

[identity profile] turps33.livejournal.com 2006-04-25 10:46 am (UTC)(link)
YAY!

Well, I usually get up around 9 but this Sat we'll be taking Corey to camp, so it may be a little earlier.

[identity profile] ninjetti75.livejournal.com 2006-04-26 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmmkay, so when do you think you'll be home from dropping off the kidlet? lol
