It was so lovely logging on and reading the congratulation comments about [livejournal.com profile] pop_newsletter's 100th issue, typical that on that special occasion I managed to totally miss off a few of the Bitty Bang stories.

In a way it feels like yesterday that I first suggested creating a newsletter for the pop fandom, and here we are now. 100 editions later. But, I guess it's time to say I've been thinking about handing it on. I haven't 100% decided, I know it's only a community but it means a lot to me. It's a history of nearly two years of popslash, because of [livejournal.com profile] wistfuljane it has an attached del.icio.us that lists all the stories that have been posted in that time frame by pairing and genre. I guess I'm just proud of it.

Thank you also to [livejournal.com profile] rikes <3 I've missed my extra user icons a lot, but didn't say anything because I always worry that it looks like I'm hinting, which I'm not at all. I can upload more Christmas icons now :)

We went to see about Corey's Christmas present this morning, while at the shopping center the fire alarms went off and all the shutters started rolling down and people started hurrying toward the nearest emergency exits. I wasn't amused at all. Thankfully it was a false alarm and we got to go talk to a nice game guy about X Boxes.

Last thing. I read and really enjoyed a story by [livejournal.com profile] sinsense yesterday. It's The Used, specifically Jepha. I have to admit they're a band I know very little about, but I know [livejournal.com profile] sinsense is a great writer and when I saw it was about pegging I had to read. So you know, if that's your kink too, give it a try. Into You Like a Train

You should be proud of it. You do a great job.

Thank you :)

And with a Merlin thumbs up too.

[identity profile] digital-diva.livejournal.com 2008-12-09 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course! That was such a cute moment. Speaking of, seeing as I've now watched all the episodes, the mood has gotten a lot darker, hasn't it? The first few episodes were really funny especially the pilot.

[identity profile] turps33.livejournal.com 2008-12-09 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
They have. That's what worries me about next week. They've established the bond between the two and that they'd die for one another, I suspect they're going to see how far they can push that.

In a way I want to see the episode now, but in another. I suspect it may end at a bad place. Which I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't the last ep of the season.

[identity profile] digital-diva.livejournal.com 2008-12-09 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
It would be a lot easier to handle if there was confirmation on a second season. Then it's just be a really great cliffhanger but you'd know Arthur and Merlin are the two they couldn't possibly kill off. As it stands though, well.

Come on BBC!

Dang, I need a serious looking Arthur icon. Can't use the laughing one here, now can I? :-/

You should be proud of the Newsletter. It's a huge achievement for the fandom and for you and wistfuljane.

Christmas icons are love.

Thank you, but you know why I'm wavering here. I'll give it a few weeks, see how it goes.

Christmas icons are fun! And now I can upload more.

Oh, totally. That doesn't mean you should discount all that you've done in the past 2 years, though. That was what I was trying to say. Take all the time you need, and then do what is best for you.

I get you.

The newsletter is what I love about you. Well, not the actual newsletter, which is completely awesome, but the idea of it. That you thought of doing it at a time when popslash really needed something like that. Your love of fandom is a shiny thing indeed, and we all benefit by it, no matter what the fandom is. And with the newsletter, you've done a truly amazing job. <3

That's such a lovely thing to say, thank you.

I love fandom a lot, and I could never give back as much as its given me.

You're most welcome! Icons are important. :)

The newsletter has been so useful and fun and of course I hope you'll keep doing it, but I know it's also been a lot of work. So I think that by now you can hand it on with good conscience knowing there'll be people (myself included) willing to take good care of it. :)

You're such a star. Thank you, again <3

Honestly, I still don't know what I'm doing, but knowing you're willing to step in is wonderful. I'd only ever hand it over to someone who I trust totally, someone I knew would continue to treat it as something important, and you totally fit that bill.

I'm totally certain popslash wouldn't be where it is now without the newsletter. I know I'm not in the fandom really myself these days but looking at it from the outside it really looks like the newsletter has managed to finally knit the two branches of the fandom together more than they've ever been before. You should definitely be proud of your accomplishment! And I totally understand being reluctant to hand it on to someone else, it's your BABY!

Icons are very important!

Pegging is one of those things I'll never understand the fascination of, I'm afraid. Far too much het for my taste :-)

I think that's the best compliment anyone could give. Thank you.

Icons are important, and now I can get new ones! Did you know I was left with only two Chris'? So wrong!

Pegging. Hmmmm. That's all.

[identity profile] ephemera.livejournal.com 2008-12-09 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
100 newsletters - that's nearly two years, and quite the accomplishment! (has it been that long already?) You should indeed be proud of it!

There are times when I really, really, don't want to pull the TS newsletter together. The delicious script helps, but I still have to sort through a hundred or so journals every week. It's amazing the fandom is still so active - I totally blame those [livejournal.com profile] sentinel_thurs gals. ;)

For the most part, I still enjoy doing it, and at this point I can't even imagine handing it over to someone else. Eventually though I know I'll reach a point when the hassle outweighs the fun and then I guess we'll see.

*hugs* I enjoy having the [livejournal.com profile] pop_newsletter on my flist - thanks so much for the time and effort you've put into it. It's an awesome resource for new and old fans. ♥

Hee. Those [livejournal.com profile] sentinel_thurs girls have a lot to answer for.

You get exactly how I feel. I love the newsletter and just thinking about handing it over feels wrong, but sometimes I really don't want to do it again. The times when coding goes wrong or like on Monday when it's late and I'm tired and LJ was blipping so I couldn't post to check my coding so ended up missing important stories.

I have the delicious script too, but stopped using it because I use delicious a lot personally and everything was getting mixed up. But I think you can use multiple log ins now on one of the FF extensions. I may look into that after the holidays, try and stream line things again and also set up a watcher journal so I can take some journals off my own personal one.

You're welcome, and thank you for getting what I mean.

Big congratulations on the hundredth issue! Even if I'm kind of dormant right now fannishly I still think it's so awesome that you do that. It's really a pillar of the fandom. ♥

It was the 100th edition? Time flies! And congratulations, sis!

The fire alarm would have been bad enough but we're used to them going off for no reason so I might not have been too afraid, but seeing the shutters roll down? Might have been another story! Still, as long as it was a false alarm and no-one came to harm, it's all good.

Pegging! I can't resist pegging fics, I'll have to save that link for when I'm home tonight. Thanks :-)

Thank you!

Man, seeing the shutters roll down freaked me out. Because it's a mall the big gates started to roll out too and people were herded toward the doors. It was really scary, still, it woke me up at least.

It's a good one, I especially liked it because it had a bit of pain in there too. Which you know I always like.
