I'm made of suck and haven't mentioned the birthdays of two very lovely ladies. Happy belated birthday [livejournal.com profile] stellamira and [livejournal.com profile] mickeym. I hope you both had lovely days ♥

I'm so behind in everything right now, tv watching, emails -- I look at my in-box and have woe. Do not forget me friends! I still love you! Pretty much all my online time is taken up with writing, but there's light at the end of the drawn_to tunnel at least.

So, a down and dirty catch up.

My sister is moving into a house a few up from mine. This means in a row of houses on the estate it'll go my house ----- kayleigh's ----- mam's. The house she's in right now sucks big time and the neighbours she has are horrible, doing things like spitting on her girlfriend's car so I'm glad she's getting out.

Our car blew a tire which led to sitting in the cold and dark for a long time as James tried to sort out huge fail by the garage who'd sent out a brand new car without the thing needed to take off the locking wheel nuts, which meant the RAC man had to break them off so he get the tire off and then go and get a new one from another garage.

My monitor has been acting up again. I'm getting a new one for Christmas so I just hope it hangs in there until then.

We're actually organised for Christmas this year, to the extent James went out and delivered the cards to the estate people yesterday. Whether they'd have been happy getting them so early is another matter. Really the only thing that needs sorting is the food and I intend to book an online Asda slot for that soon. When I told James I was doing that he got all sad and said that we usually enjoyed doing the grocery shopping before Christmas, and no, no I don't. The shop is always crowded, too hot and pure chaos. You end up queuing for ages then have to pack your bags, get them into the car, get them out of the car and round to the house to be unpacked. If I can sit and order everything online to be delivered that's exactly what I'm going to do.

I have a cold, but that's okay because I also have hot orange and blackcurrant lemsip.

This morning I've been puzzling over the whole first comment thing. I know I've griped about this before but I don't get it. I especially don't get people who jump in there to get first comment and then say there's going to read the fic. What happens if they hate it? If I ever start giving out first comment cookies you'll know I've lost my mind.

The first comment thing is weird to me, too. And I kind of feel like it must stuck a little bit for the person who has worked so hard on a story and is so excited about posting it, and maybe they're hovering over their computer refreshing their email, and they get a comment and they're all, "EEEEEEEE!" anticipationy, and then all it says is "FIRST!" Seems like it might be a let-down.

Could you send some of your Christmas organizing skills to me, please? I am in need.

I hope your cold goes away soon!

I would be so let down if I got a comment like that. When I post a story I'm exactly like you describe. Refresh. Refresh. Refresh. If I saw something coming through and all it said was 'First!' I'd be gutted.

It makes no sense! I don't care if you're first, it doesn't mean anything and it's stupid. The only time I like to see a first comment is in really high traffic posts and someone goes FIRST! and they're halfway down the page. At which point I laugh.

I'll send you James. He's turned into a Christmas organisational demon. It's all very strange.

I hope so too. Stupid things.
