May. 31st, 2020 02:16 pmWhen James finishes work today he's off for nearly two and a half weeks. It's his main holiday and for the last two years, we would have been starting to pack to go to the Canaries around this time. Obviously that's not going to happen this year, but it'll be good for him to just relax, sleep in and hopefully, spend time walking. Apparently the Wetlands will be reopening soon so we can go back walking there and the toilets have reopened at the beach which is good as its been reported people have been using the dunes.
I suspect a holiday wouldn't have happened this year anyway due to chipping away at the vets fees, which will jump up hugely next week as Milo is booked in for teeth extractions. Just as the bill had dropped to a level that didn't give me heart palpitations, too. But, it needs to be done and now is the time to do it. He's an old man but still relatively healthy apart from the teeth issues, so better to get them extracted now than wait until he has more health issues, plus, you can tell they're bothering him. He's eating but stops after a few bites so he's obviously in pain. But still, as much as I tell myself he needs this op and it's a simple one, after losing Freesia and Tinker within the last year, I'll be no good on Thursday.
The weather has been gorgeous here so I've been in the garden a lot. I've bought more bedding plants so all the pots are full and every spare space is filled with tomato plants. I also bought some reduced price runner beans plants from a garden centre, they were in a bad way, really floppy and neglected, but seem to be coming back nicely. I'm pleased with the garden right now, it's so green and full of flowers and my rocking chair is so comfy to sit and read in. This afternoon I'm going to put up some more wall baskets and fill them with the remaining bedding plants and then no doubt sit drinking iced coffee while reading my book.
In terms of TV watching, I have two eps of the latest season of Agents of Shield to watch and the final ever two episodes of Criminal Minds. It's strange to think that show is over, it did lose something, especially after Morgan left and I really dislike a plot point they introduced at the end of last season/beginning of this one. But I've been watching it from the very beginning and thought it would trundle on for a few more seasons yet. 911 has just restarted too, so I'm back enjoying the Buck/Eddie bromance.

Your garden sounds wonderful! Especially the rescued beans. Rocking amidst the greenery sounds so lovely.

Date: 2020-05-31 09:04 pm (UTC)They've reopened the city over here and I'm like "well, I wish those folks a lot of luck." Obvs, only about half of the ppl are following the rules. I think abt the only thing left to open are clubs and bars. Which, the city gov't is actually not enthusiastic about since they're enclosed spaces that get packed with ppl who are most likely drinking.
In any case, yays for the Wetlands reopening soon over there. I'm sure you're also enjoying all that gardening! A part of me envies your green thumb. I'm no plant killer, but gardening (even if it's just keeping plants on the balcony) is something I often struggle with. /o\
Wow, I can't believe that AoS is still airing (at least for one last season) OR that Criminal Minds is over. The later is pretty wild to think about since that's one of those TV shows you just think of as permanent (like NCIS, Law & Order: SVU, etc).

Date: 2020-06-01 07:17 am (UTC)Thursday will be hard. In a way I wish it was earlier so it could be over and done with, but they only have certain days they operate.
The garden is lovely. Though it's good I don't have many guests as all I have room for is the rocking chair on one small patio and a small table and two chairs on another.

Date: 2020-06-01 07:19 am (UTC)This nice weather makes having time off so much nicer, even if we're not flying away. I'm glad the wetlands is reopening, it really is a perfect place to walk and all the fuzzy ducklings and cygnets should be there by now.

Date: 2020-06-01 07:32 am (UTC)Yeah. Thinking about it we would never have been able to afford to go away this year due to the cat's health coming first. But that wouldn't have stopped us looking, planning and trying to make things work. So having the decision taken from our hands helped stop all that.
We've had ridiculous scenes here of beaches crammed with people and one local restaurant had to stop selling takeaway alcohol as so many people bought it and then just sat on the picnic benches outside. Which was always going to happen, I honestly don't know what they were thinking in the first place, especially when the weather was so nice.
I do feel for the pubs and clubs and worry for Corey and his job, but for most, it would be impossible to achieve social distancing inside.
Right now I'm comfortable going to the beach and places like the wetlands as in this area at least, they tend to be quiet as long as you don't go at peak times, and of course, being out in the open helps. But, non-essential shops can open from next week and as much as I enjoy a wander around the big shopping malls, I'll be giving it a miss for a while.
AoS isn't a hate-watch for me, but it jumped the shark awhile back and now watching is just habit and I had no urgent need to catch up. As shown by the fact the episodes I'm watching now have Christmas adverts in them.
But yeah, I always thought Criminal Minds would just keep on trucking, with a steady core cast and other members coming and going. I actually watched the last two eps last night and while some things made me roll my eyes, I was pretty happy with the ending for all the members of the team. It was also amusing that they used flashbacks to the first eps, because man, some of them changed appearance big time.

Date: 2020-06-03 04:34 pm (UTC)I promise to keep everything crossed for Milo tomorrow! Lancecat has had teeth extracted twice and both times went off without any problems.
Your garden sounds like such a pretty place to sit and enjoy a good book!

Date: 2020-06-04 05:36 am (UTC)Thank you, that's good to know about Lancecat. We have to drop Milo off at 9 and then they say we should be able to pick him up around 4:30 which seems a long time. But I guess they just want to keep an eye on him after and of course being a drop off only service at the moment makes everything much slower.
I do enjoy being in the garden and reading. It's not perfect by a long way, but I like it :)
