Just a little Awesome April challenge admin.

The very last stories of the Awesome April Challenge have been posted.

First we have a selection of ficlets from

msktrnanny. There's something for everyone in there, and I spent very happy time reading through them all. So go give her some love.

There is No Wrong Side

And that's the end of The Awesome April Challenge.

At the beginning of this challenge I worried that I'd end up filling in for many days. That didn't happen at all.

My target for new popfic words was 3,000 at the beginning of this. We ended up with just over 90,000

We've had 47 stories, both long and short, many many different pairings and threesomes, plus a handful of character centric and gen stories.

All I can say is, thank you! Thank you to the writers, to the people who commented to each story. To every single one of you that's made this challenge so successful. You're all AWESOME!

Now I'm passing on the torch.

Elegant

There's one more Awesome April to be posted later today, and when I do that I'll post the month round up too :)

One more thing. Back when I started this I had vague thoughts about rolling on if it was a success, but then those thoughts fizzled out. But, I've been asked so, some thoughts about a It's Gonna Be May challenge.

First. I thought it would be good if someone else hosted it. I've loved doing the April challenge, and you've all made me so proud with how you've responded, but I think it would be good to spread the love. Plus, I'm sure everyone is sick of the sight of my name by now.

Second. I think it needs to expand beyond just fic. Offer days when people can sign up for posting icons, or a picspam, anything. Throw it open to crossovers and fanart and song mixes. The whole point of this is to show that the pop fandom is still alive. That good stuff can be posted every day.

I'll happily host all links with the Awesome April Page and I'm a master at wielding the sparkly pimping stick of doom. I know the fans are out there, and I know we could fill another month. For what it's worth, I'll sign.

Saying that. I know it's very short notice and it means someone needs something for tomorrow. But I have faith it could be done. So, anyone want to volunteer?

dirtypod and today I saw that she'd recorded one of my stories. Which made me feel all proud, because I'm lame like that. If you have any interest in podfic go and check out the comm because a lot of good stuff has been posted. I may even get time to download it one day.

Also, Camp Sparkle 3 plans are underway! You know you want to add words to the five word story, eat an insane amount of sugar, drink coffee, tea and diet coke, sit around the kitchen table and chat, watch footage, join the breakaway groups for ~~bandom~~ other fandom chat and squee and most importantly, meet some kick-ass fans. In non-challenge news. James just phoned to tell me what he's eating for his bush tucker trial. meal worms and wichety ( sp? ) grubs and cat food and other insect-y things that surely shouldn't be near anyone's mouth. Though I did laugh when he told me they were going use crickets until they found out they were poisonous. What can I say? I'm evil like that.

stubbleglitter posted her Awesome April Challenge story, and it was posted on time, even if I suck and didn't actually announce it on time. A big fail for me.

It's set in Maggie's Baltimore Homicide Unit universe which gave me so much glee, because that universe is so good. I remember sending feedback saying I loved Chris and Britney being partners and wishing there was more of that in the first story. And now there is!

pensnest has opened the Dragon Challenge. If you write popslash you should join up, because it's a fantastic challenge. Spot, my story for the challenge two years ago remains one of my favorite stories that I've written. So you too could end with something amazing. It's actually Dragons, dwarves and dolphins this year. Which of course means I have to sequel my Joey/dolphin, now with added blow hole action.

I've just ironed for three hours, then my boys took the clothes and are putting them away without being asked. Which, wow. Also, the picture of Brendon's birthday party I keep seeing makes me giggle each time. It's also such a lovely night, so I have the window open next to me, letting in the cool night air. It's a lovely combination I must say.

So let's have a meme.

ETA: I suck at this meme so have a nice handful of things to write, which suits me fine, but no more now. Have pity on this clueless person *g*
