Jun. 22nd, 2025 02:18 pmWe're finally out of a run of 29c temps here and while it's warm today, it's nicely so. Poor James really didn't cope with the heat wave. His meds mess with his temperature regulation anyway, so he was like a wrung out rag for a lot of the time.
Things I've done in the last few days.
Went for a walk along the riverside to check out two new Ray Lonsdale sculptures. Photos on my insta if interested.
Went along the coast to go and spot seals at St Mary's island, and actually saw them, which was cool.
Walked at the Wetlands.
Went to class and my one to one check in with Rosie -- I plan on posting a flocked post about that later.
Went to Pauline's for tea.
Went with James to two hospital appointments in one day, hours apart.
Went to meet the in laws at an Italian restaurant for a birthday dinner for my niece.
Had a very frustrating Thursday.
Went to see Twenty Eight Years later, which I actually enjoyed despite me being a wuss. While it's not my usual genre of film I watch, a lot of it was filmed in my localish area, so it was fun spotting places I knew.
Tried to keep up with the garden, including making my own banana plant water, which is apparently good for the tomatoes. Sounds exciting, but it's just me shoving banana peels into water and letting them seep.
Okay, the Thursday
My MiL hasn't been feeling well for a while and started the emergency antibiotics that she has supplied always. The Wednesday was my niece's birthday dinner, and it was obvious my MiL shouldn't have come, at one point even sitting with her head on the table while saying she felt awful, eating nothing but frustratingly kept saying she'd be fine and was even refusing a new cold drink. My SiL also said how she'd refused a doctors appointment despite obviously needing one.
So, next day my MiL phoned James and said could he take her to the doctors if she got an appointment, and he said yes, as long as it was the morning as he had an appointment at the limb centre, which is in Newcastle, in the afternoon while I was Bodhisitting. She called back later, said, her appointment was at midday, would he take her as my Sil was busy with an appointment she couldn't miss.
Put on the spot he said yes, and would rearrange his appointment, which wasn't ideal, but as I was baby sitting, if my MiL was sent to the hospital -- which we all expected at that point, he'd have to drop her off and then go back after taking me to Kayleigh's. Me staying at home wasn't an option, as neither my MiL or James are physically capable of lifting the wheelchair into the car. At which point all hell broke loose between him and my Sil as she said he was abandoning my MiL in the hospital and they went back and forth via messages, ones that got increasingly angry when James found out the appointment that had apparently stopped my SiL taking my MiL to the doctors wasn't until 4:30 and her partner, who is officially my MiL's carer, was sitting in a bookmakers in town.
Cutting a long story a bit shorter, that ended with James trying to phone my SiL and her refusing to answer, and she sat there refusing to talk when we eventually took my MiL to her appointment, where she was given painkillers and told that feeling so ill was due to an infection, but her heart and chest was clear so no hospital needed.
So, after all that, no need for the argument and James cancelling his appointment as my SiL could have easily taken a taxi there and back as she had plenty of time to do so, and would have done so if he'd been at work. So yeah, a frustrating day .
James' hospital appointments were both routine, one to check his new splint and take the old one in to be adjusted as a spare. The other to see his AMC consultant, which I also expected to be an in and out, but he was sent to x-ray to see why he still can't get his hand to his mouth. Apparently there's a build up of bone around his elbow joint, and she thinks it could help with the movement to get it chipped away, but only if the build up is at the front of the bone and not the side, so he needs a CT scan to find out which it is.
Honestly, I'm wary of him having the op even if it is in the front. It's his dominant arm and James has always said no more operations unless emergencies and while a minor op, this one would stop him driving for a while, which deeply depressed him last year. But, guess we'll see after the scan, and obviously, it's his decision.
To end this sum up, have some hot cats from yesterday
Murphy goes for the classic expose belly for air technique.

While Kevin gets the prime fan spot.

Date: 2025-06-23 02:03 pm (UTC)That would suck if James needed the surgery. I hope not, because it means that more PT won't help. Good luck to you both on that decision.
I'm sorry about the argument. It sounds like s-i-l could easily have taken m-i-l to her appointment, so she has no room to give James grief about having to leave her at the hospital, had that been necessary.
Cute kitty pics!

Date: 2025-06-23 03:39 pm (UTC)I really hope he doesn't need the surgery, but, it all rests on the scan I guess.
The argument was so stupid, and pointless because my SiL had plenty of time to take my MiL to her appointment. Just didn't want to apparently.
Thank you! They are adorable, mostly!

Date: 2025-06-30 03:17 pm (UTC)I had such a fun week, and we got out lots. The sculptures were great, and so were the seals, even at a distance *g*
I really hope there is no surgery. It's the last thing he needs.
Ridiculously cute.
