Jun. 19th, 2006 03:10 pmSince Friday I've been to the movies to see Hard Candy, The Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift, twice. ( What can I say? It has hot men and women and fast cars ) and United 93. Spent all day Saturday at the Country and Steam fair, where because I'm an idiot who forgets to apply sun lotion to my chest and neck, ended up sunburned Challenge!JC red. But I did see lots of interesting stuff, like ferrets, and horses, and steam engines. Lots and lots of steam engines. In fact, you'd never believe how many different types of steam vehicles there are. Thousands of them, and they all paraded around the show ring, for hours. I now know more about steam fired rollers than I ever wanted to know. But there were also craft tents that sold onion marmalade. Man, so love that stuff, and speciality cheese with things in to make it even more delicious.
I enjoyed all the movies we saw. Tokyo Drift is pretty much eye candy with no substance to it at all, but that's all I was expecting. In the first showing we saw there was a power surge and the movie stopped in the middle and the house lights came on. We were in the biggest screen and it was almost full, so it was funny to see everyone just sitting there, looking around and wondering what the hell was going on. I think the cinema must have had a film gremlin that day, as when we saw Hard Candy earlier the preview to PoTC2 was played upside down and back to front. Personally I think Captain Jack was trying to spread demonic messages through his backwards talk ;)
We did the fathers day thing yesterday. Went to see my dad and the FiL. We were going to take James for dinner but everywhere we usually go was booked solid, which wasn't surprising, so no biggie. We ended in the cinema bar, sharing two combos between us, and that suited us fine. We dropped Corey off at mam's before seeing United 93. Man, that was a tough film to watch. It was playing in the posh screen, the one with tables between the chairs and railings for your feet in every row. I ended with one of the tipped back seats. I think back in the day you could recline the seats, now most are always upright except for a few in the reclining position, which is what I had. It was very comfy but I seemed a long way from James.
Which is probably a good thing as he's caught my cold. Of course it's not just a cold. No, this morning he informed me he had man flu. Apparently the symptoms of man flu consist of telling anyone in earshot you're dying, 78276882635 times. Pathetically asking for tissues, drinks, painkillers, toast, seven golden eggs and a pony. Also, the first words of the day must be 'I feel like crap' Man flu. As if, more like yesyouhaveacoldandyou'dgetsympathyifyou'djustshutup!
Anyway, yes. I said I'd sum up the crackfic poll, and I shall. But first I need to go to school, but before that, have some trickc drabbles generated from the drabble matic which are right behind
