Dec. 23rd, 2010 01:23 pmCorey and James are doing another bag pack today, so I'm home alone getting the house stuff done, and also catching up online.
But, we're in good shape Christmas wise. Cards have been written and actually posted. Though when I did so the lady behind the counter commented that she's be surprised if they got anywhere, never mind abroad. Which, way to make me worry about my poor cards/parcels being stuck in a snow drift somewhere.
The vast majority of presents have been bought and wrapped, with the rest coming home with James tonight. The food shopping has been done, and even though Iceland messed up and sent all the frozen food and none of the grocery stuff, the manager of the store personally delivered those on his way home. So that was an eventual win too. Of course it hasn't all been plain sailing, but when is it ever? And if the worst that happens is a few phone calls, having my sister sobbing down the phone while I was in the middle of the big Asda shop and the SiL crying due to her ex being a dick, well I'm taking that as a win too.
A few days ago I realised that the deadline for h/c bingo was really close. Like, days close. I love that challenge so much, but somehow the stuff I've written hasn't fit the prompts. What is frustrating is that if my WIPs were finished I could wipe off a lot of prompts on the bingo. I did consider maybe trying to get at least a line, but the most obvious line includes stroke, which I really don't want to touch without care and a lot of thought. I don't know, I'll have to keep thinking, on one hand after a year in which I had to bail on BBB again I'd like to get a line just to show I can finish something at times. On the other hand, there's always amnesty period so I can join again. Plus, I should really finish the stories I have instead of something new. I mean, doesn't everyone want an insane killjoys story featuring h/c, Bob, a pink Jeep, secrets, misunderstandings and cameo mentions of Pete for New Year?
There should be another h/c challenge so I can use those prompts. Yes.
I should go do something productive. Christmas Eve is always busy with lots of driving to all the relatives, so the house stuff needs to be done today. Maybe another five minutes online first though.
ETA: I forgot to mention. I nearly lost my engagement ring the other day. It just dropped off my finger, thankfully in the house. I've a plaster wrapped around the back now, which doesn't look the best but at least it keeps it on.
