It was Kayleigh's 30th on Monday, and mam managed to ruin it in many ways. I'd detail them but it's the same old same old, along with the knowledge just when you thought she couldn't be nastier and say the most horrific things in drink, you'd be wrong, because she way stepped over the line that night. She even defriended James on FB before she started lashing out on there, which added an extra nasty element of deliberate preparation to the whole thing.

Nasty posts on her wall, nasty comments on Kayleigh's friend's post, nasty direct messages, texts and phone calls. She went the whole hog. And on Kayleigh's birthday as well. Then the next day Kayleigh found out it's very likely her dad has stomach cancer. Which is just. Fuck cancer, fuck it so hard.

We were out for dinner with dad and Pauline yesterday. Dad doesn't like to use bank cards, instead he prefers to take money out of the bank on a weekly basis, but as he can't manage the trip now, we've going to take him each week. Then he likes to go out to eat. It's a win win really, we get to spend time with him and Pauline and they get to get out of the house for something other than hospital visits. I always kiss him goodbye when I leave, but yesterday he held on for a hug after and then gently steered me out of the house holding the back of my neck, which sounds weird but was just funny at the time, and we all needed that smile.

Today he's been for a liver scan. Pauline was worried about getting him there, and especially the walk from the entrance to the scan itself. But she called not long ago to say it had gone okay and he was home and sleeping. I called my brother after to let him know, and he's hurting so badly over dad. He kept saying how it was unfair dad is suffering and mam is okay when she drinks and spent years smoking and keeps lashing out at her kids. And as horrible as it sounds, I get what he means.

Changing the subject completely, the True Christmas Movie channel is back! I know it's too early, but I love those cheesy Christmas movies so much. They're particularly terrible right now, scraping the bottom of the barrel Christmas movie wise, but all that cheese is very soothing.

James is back to work so it's nice to get into some familiar routines. Plus he's enjoying being back and seeing all his friends.

Finally, I'm making pumpkin soup today, but it's in the slow cooker so won't be done for many hours yet. Fail!
