We did end up going to the hospital, spending 6 hours there. At one point they wanted to keep James in because they're worried that the infection will travel to his knee joint, which would be really bad stump wise. But in the end he got sent home with mega doses of antibiotics and a strict warning to sit with his leg up and not put on his leg for a while. So it's back to using a wheelchair again for now, though thankfully he can drive with only one leg so we weren't stuck at the hospital.

It's been a long day, and it's still not finished. Still, I have vege mince and onions to look forward to later. When I cook it anyway.

What a bummer. At least he didn't have to stay over in the hospital. Thank some deity for small favors. I hope he feels betters with the antibiotics!

Yeah, that's what I keep reminding myself. Getting home was the important thing. Now his stupid leg has a week to heal before they will haul him in.

Poor James! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the antibiotics will kick in speedily so that he'll start to feel better!!

Thank you, for both parts. I really need to remember that my shoulders and back don't like pushing James in his wheelchair. Still, on the plus side it's good exercise.

Oh honey - that sounds like a nightmare. I hope the antibots kick in quickly and that he doesn't drive you utterly bananas!

Man, I so hope they kick in too. They wanted to put his leg in a back board cast, and put him on IV antibiotics, but with his hands being as they are, no one could get a needle in. So it's strict rest and pills. But of course the only way he can get about without his leg on is using his knees, which is where the infection is. So it's the couch for him, with wheelchair outings when he gets cabin fever. Which will be tomorrow knowing him.

It's such a mess, I tell you, 2008 is being a bitch so far.

And now I'll stop venting at you.
