Last week I was privileged to be allowed a sneak look of

arsenicjade's new story A Light to Burn All the Empires Technically I was supposed to be beta reading, what she got was me flailing over practically every part. It is amazing. It hit everything I adore and then some. If you like h/c, if you like good group interaction, if you like amazingly plotted stories that have you at the edge of your seat, if you like Mikey/Frank ( and if you don't, don't tell me, because seriously. ) Go read, like now. Go.

I have no willpower.

I mainlined it all this morning after making my post and was late to work even.

But how could I resist! Mikeyway and Frank and Pete!!!

Luckily I have 8 hours of work to get my mind off Mikey Mikey Mikey and back onto Spencer Spencer Spencer.

It's just. GAH! I totally forgot to mention Pete too. I suck.

They loved him so much! And man, Gee got into bed with him because they're brothers. And he tried to play bass and it was too soon and and and....

I want to re read now!

I think it was the inclusion of Pete that tipped it over into must read now for me. He was so broken and they were there to complete him, besides being the perfect couple themselves, and it just worked so beautifully.

And Brian was great answering all their phones and Patrick was an adorable little bundle of fire protecting Pete. Everyone was so guh!

Yes. He loved Mikey so, enough to let him go because he knew he was happy with Frank. When I was talking to Arsenic I just kept babbling how wonderful Frank was, because he had Mikey, he didn't have to let Pete close, but he did because he knew they needed each other.

The waiting room scene, Brain was just amazing. Sitting answering all the phones and just dealing despite being so distraught himself. And yes, Patrick with his coffee and his protection, and I love them so.

Which ones are Mikey and Frank? I don't usually read bandslash BUT... I read Wednesday Boys (I think that's what it's called?) and if it's anywhere as good as that, I might give it a shot...

It's an excellent story. Mikey and Frank are forced to come out and things spiral on from there. If I didn't have remix editing to do I'd so be reading right now.

No, they're not related. They're bff, lived together for a while in a sort of odd couple kind of way. Or do you mean their story in the fic? My brain's not switched on today.

Oh, and I forgot to say, Pete Wentz plays a big part in case that's a deal breaker.

Oh. Huh. Pete. Kind of is a deal breaker. I had a brief period of being able to enjoy making fun of Pete and thus enjoying Pete himself, but then he knocked up Ashlee and it's not as fun anymore. Sigh. I can give it a try and see what happens. Wait... which ones are married in MCR?

Mikey, Frank, Gerard are married for sure. Ray maybe.

Another stumbling block? :(

Sigh. Yes. I have this thing about married people. Damnit. I literally forgot to put Joey in my last fic because I just... don't remember his existence because he's married and thus useless to me :P

I'm feeling like such a bad person - I love Arsenic's writing but she keeps writing pairings that don't interest me at all and it makes me pout and whish she would write something else (or at least include a pairing that I enjoy in the story, like she did in Discipline and Punish). I know it's very stupid and selfish of me, but I still do it. But I'm happy that you've got a wonderful story to read because you deserve it!

There's no need to feel bad. I'm sure no one would expect you to read something if you won't enjoy it.

If it helps, there's a Gerard/Brian established paring, though they're not the focus of the story.

I know it's totally irrational but that does help a little - I just want Gerard to be happy too, you know :-) So I might end up reading it some day I don't have anything else I feel like reading.
