Today is a day for staying in. It's been snowing constantly for a while and everything is cold and slippery outside. Far better to stay in and catch up on stuff. Which I have been doing as it's now evening and I started this post this morning.

Since the last time I posted I claimed and wrote my story for No tags. So now I'm feeling proud that it's only the 15th and I've two challenges under my belt. Of course, they're both short challenges and I still need to edit no tags, but still.

I joined trope bingo, and my card is

celebratory kiss immortality / reincarnation au: steampunk locked in animal transformation
mistletoe kiss au: were / vamp / supernatural accidental marriage kiss to save the day amnesia
sex pollen mind control FREE

SPACE
holiday in vino veritas / drunkfic
time travel au: apocalypse fake relationship alpha / beta / omega au: all-human
au: space au: band au: magic genderswap secret relationship

Now, I haven't got the best history with bingos. I love joining them and seeing the cards, but seem unable to actually finish everything. No doubt that's what will happen here too, but I'll give it a go, because really, there's not enough fuck or die in the world.

Back in the day I wrote Blurring Lines, a story where Gerard draws Mikey into life. Then [personal profile] teigh_corvus wrote some incredible poems based on the story -- seriously, if you're backing away at the thought of poems, don't, they're great -- and then this week [personal profile] sylvaine created a joined pod fic of both right here. I think that's so cool, one idea presented in so many ways. All things are linked from that post if you're interested.

I've been enjoying the new pictures of Gerard, and Frank's new website, which so far has been a mixture of endearing, amusing and boggling. Also the sparkly stuff. Justin making music again, pictures of Lance and Chris, Joey doing his marathon.

We went to see nanna on Sunday, and it was like a meeting of the bad backs club, what with nanna still suffering and James off work with his. My dad, his partner and my uncle was there too, so it was a bit of a squash in the front room. We got to talking about E readers, and for some reason my dad's partner still thinks I love Mills and Boon books because she was saying how I'd have loaded romance stories onto my Kindle. Which yeah, I have, just not the kinds that she means.

What I have been reading is The Rivers of London series. It's so good. I just started the second book and am really enjoying it.

Mam appealed her pub watch ban and had it overturned yesterday. Last night, about half an hour after James had to go and drive her home, we got a phone call from the police because she'd fallen off the step and been lying in the snow unable to get up. She's okay, and I'd say it would be a lesson that would make her stop drinking, but then I laugh forever and just think, yeah, no.

And now, back to tacking my in-box I go.

enjoy the snow (though the window)! the notion of your kindle being loaded with Mills & Boon romances made me laugh, mostly because the ones you do have are probably far more to your (and my) taste!

Your bingo card looks awesome! STEAMPUNK. :D

I have the first Rivers of London books, but ... I'm like five years behind on reading stuff, so. /o\

I've had so much fun writing Airship Pirates. It's one of my favourite things. :D

I think I'll do that, too. Amazon keeps badgering me to review all these books that I haven't read yet! /o\

It snowed a lot last night here but only a little today - there was even a little sunshine in the afternoon! I stayed indoors the whole day anyway. It's so much nicer to look out on the snow :-)

Go you!! And good luck with the editing.

Confess, you're addicted to bingo cards! ;-) I think you should write the AU: Space square.

hooray for staying on top of fannish challenges! And good luck with your bingo card. ;)

Oooooh, my bff gave me the first of the Rivers of London series for Christmas! Haven't started reading yet, what with exams and all (and getting sucked into Hobbit/LotR fandom again and thus of course starting a reread of all the books), but I'm looking forward to doing so come Easter.

I love the Rivers of London series! Kind of Hot Fuzz crossed with the Dresden Files, and spiced with it's own kind of awesome.

Sounds like very good weather for staying inside!

It's odd but I've found I don't like reading novels on my ereader. Fanfiction, yes, even long fanfic, fantastic. Original novellas, yes - but novels? I want a book. I don't know why.

I enjoyed Rivers of London (Peter getting distracted by historical plaques, etc while on duty, hee.) Haven't read the others yet but the library has them so I'll get to them!

Sorry about your mum. *hugs*

Justin is as cocky as ever, and it makes me laugh.

Sending good thoughts for healing or at least some easing for all those with the bad backs! - And I'm sorry you're faced with dealing with your mom's behavior. ♥

I went through a period in college where I read SO MANY Harlequins, and then I got so sick of the formula. Fic is far, far preferable!

After Trope Bingo, I've decided not to join any more bingos and/or challenges unless they're really ping me. Certain bingos are iffy for me (AU bingo, Kink bingo and H/C bingo, for example) and I truly hate not completing a challenge.

FWIW, though, I can see me joining Round 2 of [profile] cottoncandybingo if it happens and pretty much any Bandom!challenge in the future. \o?

AFAIK, out of the 530 books currently in my ereader, about 70 are actual books. The rest is all long fic (from 20k words up).
