Mar. 25th, 2013 08:47 amWhen I woke up this morning my in box was full of emails, and I instantly thought, what's gone on now?
So, I went to check and within a short period, read Gerard's on birds and glass post, Mikey's tweets and then watched FOB's new video for The Phoenix.
First off. That video. OMG. I love it. The song is fantastic, and there's a hawk, and the band looking amazing, even while all bloodied and tortured. I'm looking forward to their album so much.
Gerard's post, or very long tweet I guess. It's what I wanted to hear, so much better than the impersonal paragraph from before. I love how it's so 'him' and that he's made the end of MCR make sense. 12 years is a really long time, especially considering the life that they live, and if the magic is going, and more seriously, Gerard was falling back into old habits before getting himself clean again, ending things was the right thing to do.
To me it also explains more about the Mikey situation . I've been talking about this in email extensively since the whole Sarah thing started, and it didn't take long to realise I didn't think any cheating happened. I'm not making excuses for him, because I still think he behaved badly in some ways, but actually cheating while with Alicia, nope. More that he was isolating himself and seeking distraction and from the outside looking in, then went on to make some bad choices.
A report came out about someone meeting him at Morrisoncon and Mikey admitting he was depressed and spent most of the con trailing his suitcase around unsure if he should stay or go. Add that to knowing that Gerard was having issues and the band future was in doubt, that must have been hard for someone who's always said all he wanted was to be in a band with his brother.
I was so relieved when that recent picture came out of Gerard and Mikey together. I'm stupidly over invested about those two, and while I've never had any real worries they were on the outs, there was a tiny niggle.... Man, I said I was never going to talk about the Mikey situation on here, but I just hope Gerard speaking up has taken the heat off Mikey and Sarah. I never want to see another manip of Mikey with a knife through his neck, or so-called fans calling him an asshole who broke up the band. As for Sarah, I'm not her biggest fan to say the least, but the level of hate she was getting is disgusting. Whatever you think of her, and believe me, I've expressed some negative feelings over the last months, leaving comments on her instagram or an @ reply on twitter saying that she's a slut, a cunt, that she should die, is wrong.
Looking at Mikey's @ replies on twitter, it looks like the reason he had to mention his relationship at all was he tweeted about the end of the band, saying thank you to everyone, and then along with the positive replies got hate tweets, too. I can't imagine how that must have felt.
It's why I hope people read Gerard's words and realise that, while them ending things hurts, it's what they had to do with no blame involved.

With honor, integrity, closure, and on no one’s terms but our own- the door closes.
And another opens-
I'm looking forward to seeing what that open door reveals. Be that music, art, acting, writing, so many things that they take pleasure in doing, I'll be waiting.
ETA: Added picture of Mikey and Gerard for those that hadn't seen.
All that said, how about that hawk and half naked Pete...
