It was Murphy and Kevin's annual booster and check-up appointment this morning. Both were fine, but Murphy is now over 7kg which isn't ideal. The problem is he needs the prescription dry food to help with his bladder stone issues, and eating that isn't helping with the weight gain. Thankfully, the vet said you can buy the prescription kind he needs in a lower calorie format, so we'll be buying that when his latest bag is finished.

Poor Murphy was so frightened, though. Understandable as the last two times he was at the vets he ended up whisked away to the emergency vets and admitted.

Kevin was just his usual self, in perfect health apart from his chronic congestion, and he was jumping around and exploring the room, being his usual, purr'ey, friendly self. Then covered his face is lick e lix when I fed him one as a distraction as he got his nails trimmed.









Rosie texted last night to say class was cancelled today. I'm assuming for personal reasons due to the late communication. That did make going to the vets easier as before I would have had to go there, come home, drop off the cats and then quickly head for the gym, hoping the vets appointment didn't overrun. Which it actually did due to us being seen late, so time would have been tight.

They were both happy to be home. Not that I blame them, I wouldn't go out in the cold and wet if I didn't have to, either!

Oh, poor Murphy! I'm sorry he feels traumatized at the vet's. Glad the visit went well. And he's about the same weight Macca was. Lennon was heavier than that until the very end.

They both look perfectly happy and content at home!

Murphy was always a nervous cat at the vets, but it's so much worse now. Understandably so after being whisked away twice.

I'm sure some cats are just made to be chonks, and Murphy looks good on it. Just, being overweight is a risk factor for bladder stones so worth trying the low cal version of his dry food. I just hope he likes it.

They were both happy to be home. Kevin is always making dashes for the door, but the reality of being in the cold and wet wasn't as nice as he imagined, I suspect!

I feel so sad for poor Murphy. Having to endure one those scary vet visit once again! I'll keep my fingers crossed the low-calorie food will help to bring his weight down a bit.

They do indeed look very, very happy to be home - particularly Murphy! Kevin is such a goof! Lancecat never slept like that but he loved displaying his lovely fluffy tummy in the middle of the newspaper I was reading at breakfast :-)

Yeah, I felt for Murphy too. His little heart was racing when he was seeing the vet. But thankfully, all good this time and I hope the new kind of food does help.

I can imagine Lancecat doing that, why do they always want to lie where they shouldn't? *g*

I hope the low-calorie food helps and is tasty. Alexander liked it the one time I accidentally got that version. I don't get it on the regular, though, because I'm more worried about Nellcat being too skinny and I think Alexander is just a kinda chonky boy.

Glad it all went well and poor Murphy didn't get whisked away again!

That's good that Alexander liked the food, I always like getting real life reviews. So fingers crossed will like it too. But yeah I hear you about the other cats eating each others food. Kevin loved the prescription stuff, which is fine, apart from the expense!

Oh man, I'm so glad Murphy wasn't whisked away again, too. Those last two times were so traumatic for him, and us.

It may of course be a different prescription food! But this one at least was a hit. (Specific Crystal Management for cats, in the white and ochre packaging.)

Mine are both on the prescription for bladder stones (Nell actually had the problem first!) - and while I'm happy to get them the special food they need ... two slightly different prescriptions was more than I could deal with. So they just get it carefully weighed out for them and I run interference to make sure Alexander doesn't help himself to second breakfast out of her bowl.

I'm not surprised, the stuff is expensive. Like you I'm happy to buy the special food if it's needed -- which it obviously is, but would prefer to keep costs down as much as possible.
