May. 3rd, 2013 04:19 pmI have an unlocked twitter which means I get a lot of bots following me. They don't bother me, so I just ignore them as they join and then unfollow, but the other day I got a notification that I'd been followed by some actor who apparently plays Cane in the Young and the Restless, and who likes to randomly follow his fans. Which is great, but I've never heard of the guy, or ever watched the show. Guess we'll see how long he sticks around as unless he's a closet bandom fan, I doubt my tweets will be of interest. And a few days later -- as usual I've been writing this for a while now -- he's still following.
Also, I got a notification from LJ that they were going to purge my account. After the wtf?! reaction, I noticed it was an account I'd never heard of. I thought it was them making a mistake, but still went to check the account, and found out it was one set up in 2008 and had one post about Brian not being a horse. Along with the antidroner user name and the bio A horse? Come on. I think your brows are hindering your vision. and the kr spluttering with rage interest, I soon realised it was some BSB thing, and okay, it does sound like something I'd set up, but I really can't remember doing so.
However, I can log into the account with my usual LJ password, so have to admit to myself. I must have created the account, but why I don't know. The one post was made in June 2008, which is when I was writing and posting What It Says On The Can, the Nsync fetish story, so all I can assume is I was in the grip of some kind of sparkly insanity at the time. But yes, Brian is not a horse! And while it's not stated, I'm sure he's not Steed either.
Talking of insanity. The Voice was great this week, they had a section about will.i.am and Danny's bromance and Jessie hanging all over Danny. See, they realise there needs to be The Voice gsf too! Maybe I should write some and post it a antidroner. Also, they're advertising The Voice with My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark. Way to go, The Voice. Also great, the finale of Master Chef last night. I was very pleased about who won.

akamine_chan sent me an excellent link to the site undressing disability, and I've spent a lot of time since then reading through the site. One of the areas is asking people to share their expereinces about disablity, sex and dating, and every time I flash back to the day I had my first official date with James -- we actually met in a nightclub and he got my number that way, but obviously that wasn't an actual date -- and I was telling mam how I'd met someone and was going to the cinema with him, and he only had one leg and deformed arms, and she just said, are you joking? And no, no I wasn't. That didn't bother me and never has.
Some people can be weird about disability and sex, like, if you're disabled you can't have it. Another random memory time. A few years back we kept bumping into an older lady while at a cafe in Sunderland. She was lovely and we would chat away, including talking about Corey. Then one day to me she asked if James was Corey's natural father, which, what? If I want to put a spin on it I can tell myself she was asking in a general way, which admittedly would still would have been intrusive, but I do suspect she thought we didn't actually sleep together and have sex.
So yeah, it's a fantastic site, and I think we may both submit our stories.
Yesterday James was supposed to get an MRI for his back issues. He went to get one a few weeks back, but because his arms are fixed he couldn't put them down by his side, and his hand got jammed against the tube, which really freaked him out. Luckily, there's an open MRI in a private clinic in Newcastle, so he got an appointment to go there instead. That appointment was yesterday, but just before we were about to set out they called to say the MRI had broken down, so he's going to try again on Wed. Though, it was just as well as we ended up having to take mam to first the walk in centre, and then the hospital as her feet and legs had swollen up and gone black. She has to go to her own doctor today for a referral to a vascular consultant ( I think ), so I can see the hospital visits in the future mounting up already.
But, that's for later. Today I'm chilling and going to try and get some bbb words down. I need over 15k of them to hit the deadline in a week. Which. Yeah. And ha, now I have written for a while and only need 14.5. At this rate the story may be done for bbb next year.

I hope James will be able to get that MRI on Wednesday, and that your mam's feet and legs will get better.
Good luck with the writing! *sends lots of inspirational and energetic thoughts*

Date: 2013-05-26 01:28 pm (UTC)Well, James got his MRI eventually, but just before he went away found out the hospital didn't have his results, and in fact, his consultant didn't even know he'd been for the MRI. It's one thing after another.

Date: 2013-05-25 04:58 pm (UTC)Oh man, yeah. I do understand it's a hard line to judge, what's asking too much or too little. But you'd think there's some topics people would stay away from if they don't actually know the person.
Thank you ♥

Aka sent me the link to that site too. Human sexuality is so fascinating. The only problem is when people's natural curiosity opens the door into rude questions. I've observed that people without disabilities are wrongly taught about looking at people with disabilities as something that's untouchable or wrong. The thing is that we are all human and expressing our sexuality (whatever it might be) is normal. The sense of touch, hugging, kissing, etc are all normal and most people need them.
(I could go on, but I'm gonna step off my box.)
Good luck with the BBB and the hospital visits!

Oh man, yes, and from such a young age, too. It's something that frustrates James. His disability is obvious and often young children point and ask parents what's wrong with him. Most of the time they're told to be quiet or pulled away -- and I do get that reaction, because it's hard to know how people will react -- but he'd rather they just ask.

Yep. I agree. And I liked all of your points, so feel free to pull up your box at any time.
As you know, bbb is submitted. Thank goodness!
