Interesting times in bandom lately, with my focus being, of course, Mikey's new band.

I have to admit, I've enjoyed seeing all the speculation about it, some serious, but a lot of joking. My favourites of such remaining the posts saying he was going to join One Direction, and FOB. Though I suspect that second wasn't actually a joke, especially as the post on tumblr seemed to disappear very soon after. All I can think is, sanity set in after a crazy moment for the poster. Though, I do get the appeal of thinking about Mikey tagging along with the band - and having hot sex and being cared for by Pete and Meagan, for which I blame annemari completely.

But yeah, it seems he may be off to work with David from New London Fire. No official announcement as yet, but that's what those tweets seem to suggest. I'm thrilled for him, and hope this puts the focus back on music. I was looking at tumblr after the news of his new band first hit, and someone suggested he was having mid-life crisis because he was joining a new band, and just, seriously? He's always loved music, him joining a new band makes perfect sense.

And then his Aquabats episode at the end of the month \o/

I enjoyed Gerard's interview where he talked about his music and directing, too. And of course, FOB continue to delight me with their everything.

I'm busy editing my BBB at the moment. For very good reasons themoononastick couldn't beta this time, so I had to ask for a new beta, which was scary as Moon has been my main beta for many, many years. But fannish people are amazing and within minutes of asking I had an offer. With that and someone else checking this weekend this story will be as good as it possibly can be. &fandompeople;

Also, as I know some people didn't know. Double claims are up for mixes, so if you missed out on a story you wanted to mix. Go get it!

James comes home tomorrow, so it's my last lazy day with Corey. Sadly a lot of it has been grey and wet, but we've got along just fine. Sleep ins and pottering around and able to get into the garden once. But, it's actually sunny today so I'll go out and re-pot the rest of my tomatoes later. Dad came to visit earlier in the week and brought me a packet of snowball turnip seeds. When I was a kid he had an allotment, and he used to grow them there. When me and my brother went with him he'd pull up these small snowball turnips, chop off the roots and we'd peel them using our teeth and eat them raw from the ground. They were delicious, and I've often wanted to try them again. So, he unexpectedly brought seeds, and gave clear instructions how to grow them. I just hope they do grow, he's taken to inspecting the garden when he comes to visit, and I'm sure half the time he's thinking, amateurs! For example, he told me to be brutal and not grow every seedling that comes through or you end with an overcrowded greenhouse. Which, I know he's right, but I feel bad throwing seedlings to one side. So yeah, he's my gardening guru. Unable to do the physical work but always there with advice.

I'm actually tempted to go re-pot now, but I always end up covered in compost when I do and I have washing to go on the line soon. So, a job for the afternoon really.

It's strange how some things stick in the memory from when you were kids. I can remember eating those turnips so vividly. I just hope they still taste as good as I remember.

We've had quite nice weather for most of this week but it's supposed to rain during the weekend. I hope your sunshine will stay for a while.

I didn't know you could eat turnips raw. Good luck getting them to grow. (Your dad makes me giggle. I think I must have been trained by my grandmother when I was quite young because I've never felt any such qualms when it comes to chucking out second rate seedlings :-)

You'd think it would be exciting, but a lot of people are complaining that it's too soon for him to join another band, and that if all four are making music why aren't they doing so together. Sometimes your decision to only stick to LJ/DW makes a huge amount of sense.

The editing is going nicely. After all the hassle to get the thing written it feels nice to have a leisurely writing process.

The sunshine was gone this morning, but is back now. Hopefully it will stay a while, especially as I just put the sunflowers outside yesterday.

I've always eaten turnip raw. Before pumpkins became a thing here and we carved turnips at Halloween, I'd always eat the insides. But yeah, dad has told me firmly that I have to be selective with plants, and that we've tried to grow far too many in years past.

The flurry of news from our boys is making me all happy and flaily. Yay for them doing things and being happy! :D

I don't know how much of this I made up, but I feel like I remember "New London Fire" being a band name Mikey came up with. Is that possible?? I didn't even know it was a real band, and now he's joining it!

I love that they're all doing stuff that makes them happy at the moment. Be that hiking, being the best dad in the world or creating songs.

Is it possible. He says that in LotMS. I'm intrigued about how this is going to play out, and how often Gerard will be side stage watching his bro *g*

Ugh, I hear you. I made the absolute mistake of detouring away from the very, very few Bandom-ish tumblrs I read last Saturday. It's just incredible to read all the vitrol and sneering in people's posts. ESPECIALLY those who self-identify as fans of the band and/or the guys. *hands*

Good luck with your Wave 1 editing! I'm still fine-tuning my Wave 1 mix (aiming at having it done by this coming weekend) while ever so slowly typing up my fic for Wave 3. :)

Oh man, me too. I'd love him to write that novel, and to go out and do something successful on his own. Mainly so it would stop the comments about him always clinging onto Gerard's coat tails.

I check the Mikey tag on tumblr daily because I'm always on the look out for new pictures. But so often it's a depressing place to be. The amount of hate still being thrown his way is disgusting, especially so as Gerard stated it wasn't Mikey's fault the band broke up. Yet some people don't seem to have taken that in.

I like them even more since I discovered they're beautiful cooked in a microwave. Just shove them in whole and nuke.
