Dear Amp Elf letter
Oct. 23rd, 2013 11:07 amHello awesome person who was assigned my name.
First things first. Thank you. Seriously. Holiday exchanges are fantastic things, and the idea that somewhere in the world someone will be writing something tailored for me is something that makes me smile.
Second. You may know me, or know my name and be thinking, oh my god, she's going to want to write me something where MCR's tour bus crashes and the band have to struggle through a forest while terribly injured only to be captured and thrown into a slave ring where they're beaten and abused and poor Mikey gets the crap beaten out of him on an hourly basis while his bro grasps the bars of his cage screaming to take Mikey's place. Then later, grievously injured, Mikey manages to plot an escape and saves his bandmates, along with Pete and Ryan who've been captured too -- of course -- getting them to safety before dropping with a deadly infection that leads to him fighting for his life.
And the thing is, I have no shame what-so-ever in admitting I'd read the hell out of that. However, I do actually like and enjoy a load more stuff. So if h/c isn't your thing, don't worry.
I like fluff, I like curtainfic, I like kink, gen, het, stories where sex is the focus and stories where nothing sexual happens at all. I love threesomes and moresomes. I like canon compliant stories and AUs of any kind, from coffee shops to space adventures. I like realistic stories where happy endings can't always happen but also love ones filled with sparkle, candyfloss and sweetness. Magic realism is great, meshing universes fantastic, so if you want a bandom/TV show cross, go for it. I love hand holding and hugs. About people being pushed to their limits and still managing to go on. I love found homes and people who have people's backs, often in unexpected ways.
I do like reading Bob in fic, but if you're not comfortable writing him for any reason and want to set the story after he left the band, or an AU without him, that's okay.
I'm very much a OTC kind of person, so while I do have favourite pairings, I will be happy reading about Mikey being paired with anyone.
What don't I love?
Please, if you're going to have a villain make it be an OC.
If you're writing a slash pairing that means band guys splitting from their wives, please, don't make the ladies be prize bitches who drove the guy away. Handwave the relationships if you want so the marriage never existed, or that they were best friends or something instead. But no making them mean, and that includes Sarah, too.
Finally, while I have no issues with stories where the Way bros fight or are on the outs, please don't end it that way. I'm kind of over invested in those two and their relationship.
So, there you go. A lot of babble that can be summed up with. I love Mikey, a lot. If you write him front and centre I'll be happy.
If you still have questions about my bandom likes I've been friends with
sperrywink and
turlough forever, and I'm sure they'll be able to help. As will
annemari, someone who I've discussed Mikey and fic with extensively.
I think that's it. Just, have fun, okay? Because I already know, whatever you write will be fantastic.

I don't know whether to write a Dear Amp letter. I was pretty explicit in my sign-up. *ponders*

Date: 2013-10-27 12:20 pm (UTC)I don't think you actually need a letter. Though I enjoyed writing mine, probably because I used to do one for the popslash exchange and got used to it.
