Dec. 27th, 2013 02:31 pmIt's windy again today with an amber weather warnings for my area. The poor greenhouse is taking a battering but has stayed put so far. Fingers crossed it'll stay that way as I don't fancy chasing it around the estate.
Yesterday I had my traditional breakfast boxing day turkey, stuffing and mint sauce sandwich and yep, still as amazing as always. Then did the boxing day buffet later in the day. I didn't make as much as usual as James was in the middle of his night shifts so it would have been only me and Corey in the house. Except, James had a big flair up with his joints, still went to work, got out of the car and slipped on the ice hurting his back. So, an hour after he left he was home again. It wasn't really a surprise he had a flair up, none of us stopped before Christmas with visiting and shopping and taking mam to her appointments at the dentist and eye hospital. Add the cold and damp weather and it would have been more of a surprise if he got to the new year still feeling well.
Christmas day itself was lovely. I got spoiled present wise ending up with a load of books, Lush stuff, candles, new pjs and various other stuff, including a book voucher from the MiL that ended up being thrown away with the wrapping paper. It's found now, though. Oh, and James got me a FOB wallet which I like a lot. Nanna also gave me a book that contains a poem she wrote. It's nothing that's going to change the world but she wrote a beautiful note inside, and therefore it's now one of the best books that I own.
Corey enjoyed what he got too, especially his new Windows tablet, which I have to say, is very nifty.
Mam didn't come down for dinner and due to saying some stuff on FB, Kayleigh wasn't talking to her, very understandably so, but I refused to let that affect the day and get involved. We had a delicious dinner with just the three of us so everything was nicely chilled and lovely. I also took a photo of Corey that I love, I pretty much told him that if he let me take one photo while opening gifts I'd leave him alone after, and fortunately ended up with one that looks good.
I hope everyone who celebrates had a great time. I need to go and do some actual tidying up, especially hoovering the floor. Then maybe some more bandom_holidays -- which I've just realised I've been calling the wrong name for a while -- reading later. I've only read another since the one for me, but it was a great one. That Frank/Mikey continues to be written regularly makes me so happy. I'm not putting up an official offer to guess what story I wrote though, as apparently it's visible from space.

Date: 2013-12-27 07:51 pm (UTC)Poor James! I hope he didn't hurt his back too severely?
I'm glad to hear you'd a lovely holiday. And got lots of nice presents. The one from your nanna sounds so sweet. Also, yay! for getting a good pic of Corey. I've given up on taking photos of people, they always end up looking so weird :-)
I hope the tidying and hoovering went well and that you had time to read some more bandom_holidays fic. I still haven't been in a reading mood *sigh* And there were far too few stories about Gerard /grumpy

Date: 2013-12-27 08:19 pm (UTC)His back seems to have loosened off a lot over the day. This morning he couldn't even get out of bed. He's not due back to work until Tuesday night, though. So lots of resting up and gentle walking will be happening until then.
We did have a nice holiday. I love the book from nanna. She says it's because I'm the only person in the family who reads apart from her. Which is true. Both my dad and uncle have no interest in reading at all.
The floor is now clean and I've read a few more stories, and enjoyed the ones I have read. It's been a lazy day and I've enjoyed it, but back to actually leaving the house tomorrow.
