turpsWe went to see Jurassic World last night. Well, I say we. James fell asleep five minutes in and didn't wake up until the film was finished. So, note to self, no more booking tickets when James is working early shifts.
I enjoyed the film a load -- the raptors ♥ ♥ ♥ -- and all the dino fights were great. Just what I was in the mood for. Though sadly the nachos were under par, the cheese sauce so salty that it was close to inedible. Same for the nachos themselves.
On the way home I got really cold, and didn't warm up until I was in bed. I'm still a bit under par today, but not enough to be actually be sick. Hopefully it stays like that as I have a hospital appointment this week.
I'm still debating about joining h/c bingo this time. I love the challenge, and usually manage to fill a square or two. But utterly fail about actually posting those fills to the comm. I suck. But at the same time, I need something to kick start my writing brain again.
Because of a post ofsperrywink I'm listening to A Ha's greatest hits. And really, I ask again, why has no one written a Way bros version of the Take on Me video yet? It would be tragic and awesome.
Talked to my dad for father's day yesterday. He's not doing too well at the moment as he's taken to wandering. It's frustrating to him as he feels stifled in the house, but he can be unsteady on his feet and can't communicate well at all. Pauline wants to keep track of him, while dad just wants some freedom. But he's getting that by walking out of the house and not telling anyone, and not taking any money or his bus pass. The other week he turned up at my brother's house close to 9pm, and hadn't told Pauline he was going. There's a lot of other stuff going on, and neither are happy at the moment, and I can see both of their sides, but don't have a clue how to help more than I'm doing now.

Date: 2015-06-22 03:25 pm (UTC)Yeah, there was lots of blood, and scary stuff. I was actually surprised how many little kids were at the show. Not ones around L's age, but what looked to be around the 5 or 6 mark. That seems too young for me.
I feel bad for both Pauline and dad. It would help a lot if he could use a mobile, but he won't. Plus, he'd just leave it behind anyway.
You know I'll cave for a card eventually. Maybe this is the time I'll actually post to the comm. It has to happen some time!

Dude, HC Bingo is like a staple of your journal. Though, I'll admit, I'm not getting a card this year. Not when last year I didn't even push myself to post the card I got. I guess I'm just out of the loop for good *sighs*.

Yeah, it is rough. They've been together a really long time so it's sad to see them in this rocky patch.

Wow, A-ha! I used to be so much into them back in my childhood! Have never gotten around seeing them live, but I deffo have several of their albums in my music collection. BTW, I do think someone wrote a BBB fic that, although not Waycest, really fit the idea of "Take On Me". I think it was a story in which everyone had forgotten that Gerard existed except for Mikeyway? My overall memory of that fic is rather sketchy...
Here's hoping this rough patch between Pauline and your father smooths over soon. :(

Date: 2015-06-24 07:22 am (UTC)How wrong I was. JW isn't a brilliant movie, and has things that if you think about them make you think, the hell? But it's so action-packed and just plain fun that none of that matters while you're sitting their watching chase scenes and dino fights.
I still think Mad Max is my favourite film of the year so far. James is really excited about the new Terminator movie, but I'm a bit meh about that at the moment. Oh, and I was going to check out Entourage as I did watch the series, but every review I've seen said it sucks, so that's been wiped off the list.
I was so sad about the nanchos! They're a big part of my cinema going experience :(

I was obsessed with A-ha when I was a kid. My bedroom walls were plastered with posters, and now you think of it, I can vaguely remember that bbb too. I'll have to look for it while I'm in a reading mood.
In terms of the video, it doesn't even have to be Waycest, just Mikey and Gerard seem the perfect people to truly see each other when other's can't, with the potential of angst when that's ripped away. I'm a glutton for punishment.
Thank you. It's hard seeing them both so stressed, but they've been together a really long time, so hopefully can get through this too.
