Jul. 6th, 2015 07:59 pmWe've been to see Magic Mike today -- and if you suspected I put a Y on the end of that at first you're so right. I loved it! The build up, the characters, and the dancing, especially the end part. Holy hell! James hated it, not because of the male strippers, but because he found the build up horribly slow, something that ruined the whole film for him.
He was also the only man in the screen we were in. There was a big cluster of ladies in the middle and then us up on our couch at the back. I should have gone and joined them. But yeah, I really enjoyed the film a lot.
ETA: Forgot to say, I liked the BSB mentions, too.
Before hand I bought two dresses that were heavily discounted in a sale. Which reminds me of one of my nanna's comments on Sunday where yet again her brain mouth filter didn't kick in. I was wearing a new top and she asked me if I got my clothes specially made, and no, I get them from the shops -- plus sized shops granted, but I'm not at the point of having tents modified for me. Nanna, man. I love her unreservedly, but sometimes she just doesn't think. At least it wasn't just me, she told my dad, uncle and James that they'd put on weight. It must have been her theme for the day.
Other than that, nothing really stands out since I last posted. We had a heat wave, which sucked because I really don't like the heat and it doesn't like me. As shown by the photo of myself I posted on Instagram where I looked like a tomato after going for a walk at the beach.
We've had lots of storms, including a fabulous electrical storm that lasted over two hours. The garden is looking beautiful, I've read my way through nearly all the Mercy Thompson books and generally things are going okay.
Fannish wise. Mikey played a show at the weekend and it was lovely to see him on stage again. I've enjoyed looking at fan photos with him and have to admit to laughing at this one where he looked like a startled rabbit.
Thinking of, I need to go update mwd then get in the shower as I'm at the hospital tomorrow.

Date: 2015-07-06 08:01 pm (UTC)People who love heat are weird!
I love thunderstorms but last night's was such a lame example. I feel cheated!
*giggles* That's a hilarious photo of him.
Good luck at the hospital tomorrow!

Date: 2015-07-07 12:53 pm (UTC)They are! I don't get the appeal of basking in heat. Above a certain temperature and everything is such an effort. I hate it.
Thunderstorms are great. The electrical storm last week was the first I'd seen in years, and was so weird due to the lack of much thunder and no rain. Just these amazing forked strikes and flashes that just kept coming.
It really is. He looks very taken back *g*
Thank you. I'm about to head out now so hopefully it'll be good news.

Date: 2015-07-07 07:54 am (UTC)He really does. Wow. *G*
IDK what it is about grandmothers. (Or: is it something about grandmothers?) Mine used to make these *very audible* comments about the appearance/weight of *total strangers* in restaurants (usually), and just -- OMG stop.
Best of luck at the hospital!

Date: 2015-07-07 12:50 pm (UTC)Oh man, my nanna does that too. She can't walk far now so when we go out we spend a lot of time sitting on benches and people watching. Which is great, except nanna will pass comment on how people look or what they're wearing, and it's never in a subtle way.
Thank you.

Date: 2015-07-07 12:47 pm (UTC)Yeah, he was playing bass for Deryck Whibley's side project. I know a lot of fanon has been shown to be wrong over the years, but I do like that Mikey knows everyone, is still going strong.
Thank you. I'll be heading off very soon, so hopefully it's good news.

Actually, I just remembered. The cinema we went to offered a double feature when Magic Mike started last week. It was both movies, plus butlers in the buff serving wine in the interval. I was very tempted just for the laugh. But I fear it would have finished James off *g*

Date: 2015-07-07 06:42 pm (UTC)Yep, you really must! I would have loved to watch the film with you, much better with a good friend who appreciates it than a grumbling James.
Me too!
