Oct. 29th, 2015 04:24 pmThank you to
pensnest and
ephemera for the cards, and especially the messages inside. They both helped a lot.
I also want to give a thank you to all the comments to my last two posts. Normally I'd individually reply, but I don't think I can do that just yet, but I want everyone to know your support has been, and is still very much appreciated.
I may post in more detail at some point, but dad's last week wasn't pleasant, but at the end he was coherent enough to give permission for the operation, saying he wanted it despite the risk. We also got to talk to the senior anaesthetist after. I don't know what religion he practised, but he said the Indian way was to want respect for those at the end of their lives, and that dad had been given that respect. He went relaxed and unafraid, and after the previous week that's something I'm holding onto.
It's dad's funeral next Wednesday. He'd already paid for and picked out elements himself and yesterday we met the lady who will conduct the humanist service. It's going to be personal, including Corey picking two songs for the service as he has dad's old LPs. It's also going to be one of the hardest things I've ever done.

Date: 2015-10-30 06:39 am (UTC)The service is super hard. I remember how tough it was in 2013 to be the one burning the cd for the service.
