Thank you so much to [personal profile] dine -- first again! for the card, and message, and to [personal profile] frausorge for the card and very lovely message, too. You're both fabulous. Also fabulous? [personal profile] turlough who sent me a mini knitted sparkle deer! Which you can see here. Your message made me laugh a lot, especially as I was reading it on the day I was putting up my decorations, including blue lights *g* You can see my sparkle deer herd here. For the last few years I've been buying a new sparkle deer for Christmas, and this year it was the sequinned one on the right.

The decorations do look nice this year, and the tree is as sparkly, tacky and amazing as always. New decorations this year include the stag head and an amazing festive dinosaur that was supposed to be for the tree but I like so much it has pride of place on the mantelpiece.

When going through the boxes I was pleased to find a load of cards I must have bought in the sales, so that's going to save some money. I also found relative specific cards including one for dad, which lead to a bit of a moment. I guess those will happen for a while yet.

Other things. It was James' birthday on Tuesday. I bought him a Tassimo coffee machine and some pods, mam also got him pods, so now the kitchen is full of the things. Corey came home for the night so we all went out to dinner, and it was just a very lovely day.

On Thursday we got our new car, Jaffa, which you can see here. It's a lovely car, and best of all has independent heating on the driver and passenger sides, which is great as due to his meds James tends to run really hot and winter journeys tend to include lots of him putting down the window while I complain and crank up the heat. Also, he can actually use the window controls on this car, which is great as he needed to use a hook on the Meriva as the controls were at a bad angle for him. The only issue we have is as it's a higher car there's no way James can reach the boot to close it, so that means we'll either have to improvise with a rope or hook, or else see if there's an adaptation that could be bought and used.

I have to say here, Gleb last night? Holy hell, he looked amazing. He still seems too full of himself but I'm quite content to embrace my shallowness and gaze at length.

It was my second visit to the psychologist on Friday

Not that there's much to say. He didn't want to get into the weight stuff when I've been dealing with grieving for dad. So that was put off until my next visit. I never said but my appointment to see the dietician was two days after dad died. I was really disappointed to have only lost eight pounds since getting the balloon fitted. And I know it sounds a lot, but for me it's really not. But, she was lovely and said that she considered it a win that I'd lost anything considering I'd spent weeks pretty much living at the hospital, especially so as many days we were there from around seven-eight in the morning to getting on to eight at night.

I'm not weighing at home as I was getting too caught up in numbers, but I know things are happening because when we were trying out cars before picking the Mokka I couldn't get the seat belt fastened over my stomach, when now it does easily with room to spare, even when I have my chair pulled forward. Of course, I still keep thinking they must have put an extension on without telling us as a kindness to the fat passenger. Which they won't have, but the thought is there.

My next dietician appointment is the 6th of Jan, which means I have Christmas to get past. It's always something and sometimes I just can't help wishing I was a person who could deal with stuff like that easily. But I'm not, so one small step after another I guess.

Storm Desmond has hit us hard these last two days. Yesterday I didn't even leave the house as the wind was so strong. Thankfully it seems to have died down a little today, which means I need to go out and sort out the garden again, starting with getting the bin back upright and all the rubbish shoved back in it.

James is at work so no visit to nanna's today, so all I plan on doing is maybe wandering up to see mam later and a lot of catching up online. Also, watch the last two eps of You Me and the Apocalypse which I've been really enjoying.

Awww, cute little deer!

And, ahaha, pretty soon you will have a herd of deer filling up your living room! You'll run out of space and they will take over!

And {{{hugs}}} for the psych appointment. Little steps indeed are how you want to go, but they can be frustrating. Why can't we just snap our fingers and have consistent progress? You might try picking points at every month or so. It might be easier to see the change if it isn't so incremental. but, good luck getting through the holidays.

Yay for quiet, catching-up day.

\o/ and it's not like I'm even trying to win - it just keeps happening *g*

I love your sparkle deer collection, and sure hope you can find a pink one to add to the herd. the description of your tree as sparkly, tacky and amazing as always makes me think you'd appreciate Ovi's New Year tree in a fun outside POV story:

Hiding in Plain Sight by [archiveofourown.org profile] kinetikatrue

It looks like Ovi hired someone to decorate it and gave them only one direction: make it as shiny as you can. The tree itself is a good 16 feet, by Justin's guess, of glitzy, glittery white fake needles - and it's covered in everything from mirrored balls and shiny garlands, to icicles and strands of tinsel, to silvered walnuts and glittery pine cones and sequined animals in a rainbow of colors. There seem to be tiny, twinkling lights everywhere there isn't an ornament. At its base is basically a snowfield of mounded white fabric sprinkled with glitter. And on top is a huge star made of bent wire, woven with lights - and encrusted with yet more glitter.

I'm so happy to hear you like my little deer. He was lots of fun to make!

You have the tackiest Christmas tree ever and you should totally be proud of it :-)

Your new car looks and sounds great. And I very much approve of orange cars!

It's so typical that your operation came at the possibly worst moment it could this year. It must feel so frustrating to have everything go so slow when you feel they should go much quicker. Why are our bodies such tricky and contrary organisms?! I'm sending you ALL the good thoughts!!

The latest storm was supposed to pass by north of us but it came much closer than they had anticipated so we've had lots of wind and rain the whole weekend. Such dreary weather!

GLEB IS SO PRETTY.

Kevin's my favourite, though. Team Kellin forever! (That is my own portmanteau, and I haven't seen this week's results yet...)

Your deer are fabulous and sparkly! I look forward to the expansion of the herd. :)

Good luck cleaning up after Desmond. Someone floated the idea that the weather's been getting more uppity since we started naming it and I think they might be on to something.

(I didn't have bins out, but I hope the house is still there!)
