Happiest of days!
Mar. 9th, 2016 04:15 pmWe were in Sunderland early today, after doing what we'd actually gone there to do, I got my copies of Kerrang \o/
You can read Mikey's interview here but I must pay special attention to this photo that I had to sit and stare at for a long time, because, damn, Mikey Way!.
Also, that response about Gerard. My heart!
I really like the album, btw. It's very different to MCR's sound, but I expected that. So all in all, go Mikey and Dave!
Other good news.
Yesterday mam phoned to say three letters had been delivered to her house, one each for me, James and Corey. Unsure what they were, James told her to open his, and it was a cheque. And when he went up to get the letters there was a cheque for the same amount for me and one for a little bit more for Corey.
After thinking for a while I remembered a policy we took out just after Corey was born. A man used to come to mam's house -- we were living there at the time -- and collect payments. After a phone call this morning to the company it seems we'd paid a years worth of payments, then the man had stopped coming, but the policies stayed active, gaining interest over the next 19 years, and have just paid out. It's not life changing money, but enough that things won't be so tight for a while. So, that's what we were doing this morning. Putting those cheques in our bank account, and then afterwards picked up Pauline and her daughter and went to her son's house for dinner and to visit for a few hours.
Now I'm home, drinking coffee and gazing at Mikey. Not a bad way to spend time I'd say.
ETA: I've been reading my flist and see
bandombigbang is gearing up to happen again. I fully encourage anyone to join up if they're interested. The challenge is so low stress, but give such rich rewards. Plus, you know, if you sign up you could write/draw/create EC era Mikey. I'm just saying.
ETA2: I knew I was going to post about something else. Our regional news has been talking about Castle and a character in a recent episode that apparently has the worst Geordie accent ever. As I'm from Sunderland and not Newcastle I'm a mackem and not a geordie but get called one often by people who don't live local enough to tell the difference when they hear me talk. Anyway, I have to agree, this really is the worst Geordie accent ever. I recognise all the words, but how he's saying them. Nope.

raytoro @raytoro -- Congrats to @mikeyway on the @ElectricCentury release! Makes a great driving record. Proud of you buddy! Now to steal my Dad's copy...

Date: 2016-03-09 05:33 pm (UTC)Gauging by the three songs I've heard, I feel like I have an idea of what to expect for the album (though I still kinda go DNW about the cover art) and I think I'll like it fine.
Surprise money is always a good thing. I'm glad that you're having a good day. :)

Date: 2016-03-09 05:45 pm (UTC)My heart ached for him at times, but not for long as he looks so happy right now, and that's lovely to see.
I'm looking forward to you hearing the rest of the songs and saying what you think. I suspect it'll be positive.
The cover art is strange. While it could be seen as boring I'd have liked to see Dave and Mikey on the front. Mainly so Dave gets some more face time. I mean, obviously I'm all about Mikey but Dave is a huge part of this, too.
It's an excellent thing! It just shows those adulting decisions do pay out, even if they take a long time.

Date: 2016-03-09 05:57 pm (UTC)Surprise money is the best! I just have to keep telling myself that I can't blow lots on more new clothes due to the likely hood of dropping sizes. Maybe I'll go mad in Lush instead.
It's been a really nice day. Though James has just reminded me I need to iron his scout shirt, so I'll have to stop my Mikey gazing for a while.

Date: 2016-03-09 09:19 pm (UTC)I have a copy of Kerrang, and CD, waiting for me - my local shop had none, but I have good friends who picked me up one. I am so excited to read it LD
I watched that episode of Castle and it was ruddy AWFUL. Such a stupid premise to boot.

Date: 2016-03-10 09:46 am (UTC)You know, I am signed up for the free post code lottery but haven't checked the page for ages. It's fantastic that you actually won, that's the prompt I needed to check more often.
It took me a while to get the Kerrangs yesterday. I knew the big supermarkets stocked them so wasn't worried, but as we were in Sunderland anyway decided to check some of the newsagents. None of them had it, as apparently it's a specialist magazine. Unlike the top shelves which were full of porn titles.
Castle veers between great episodes and really stupid ones. I thought the one with the tiger had scraped the bottom of the barrel, but this one has just taken the most stupid award.
