May. 21st, 2016 03:26 pmI've had some nice comments lately about my Musketeers fic lately, which are fantastic to receive. Including someone wanting to translate into Russian which was rather unexpected. I just wish they'd show the final season here already. It's been released all over the world on various platforms, but still no concrete date here. I know I could probably torrent the season, but it's not the same.
ETA: Just reading my flist and finally a date. Sat 28th May 9:30pm \o/
James is helping at a scout bag pack today, so I'm chilling out at home, which is nice as it feels like we haven't been off the roads the last few days. We were swimming yesterday and while we were there the aquafit class started. They take over 2/3 of the pool so people can keep swimming in the other part. We were watching and the instructor came over and asked if we were interested, and somehow we've committed ourself to trying the class next week. I was talking to some of the ladies in the changing room afterwards, and they were at pains to say you only have to do what you're capable of and they seem like a nice bunch. Plus, as we're members now each class only costs £2, so why not?
Both Pauline and my uncle are on holiday this week -- separately -- so we've been checking up on nanna more than usual. And of course she manage to fall down the stairs. Not many, she missed the last step, landed on her arm and shoulder and had to crawl to the phone and call her brother who then had to break in as she had the chain on the door. She didn't press her alarm service, which she pays for, as she didn't want people looking and wondering why they were there, and didn't call us, why I don't know. But at least she's realised at last it's time she has a stair lift and some adaptions done to her house.
Her staircase is the steepest I've ever seen. They all are in her street. Our first house was two doors along from hers and I was always worried carrying Corey due to the steep stairs. I'm really glad she's changed her mind at last, but remain annoyed at her doctors who said they'd come up and see her, didn't turn up, and then said they'd made her an appointment on Tuesday instead.
Corey decided to have a few last celebrations so still isn't home. He's also applied for a job at his halls cleaning all the flats ready for next year. So he could be splitting his time between home and there. Rather him than me for that job, especially as his halls retain the party hall label so I can only imagine the state of some of the flats.
This morning James got a fine for driving in a bus lane on the night Corey was sick and we took him to hospital. Which is fair enough, even if the roads were deserted and we wanted to get there asap it was still wrong. But paying that on top of the speeding fine makes our finances even tighter. It's stupid because on one hand we're laying out all this money on wedding stuff, but on the other are having to be really careful. At this rate we'll be dining like royalty one day and surviving on beans and left over cake for weeks after.

Date: 2016-05-21 04:18 pm (UTC)hope you enjoy the aquafit course - that sounds like a reasonable rate and hopefully it'll be fun
I'm glad your nanna didn't end up badly injured - it's good she'll be getting a stair lift, especially as hers are so steep. how frustrating that the doctors have been so cavalier though
I bet your wedding dinner will be lovely, and here's hoping you enjoy your beans and leftover cake afterwards! *g*

Date: 2016-05-21 05:31 pm (UTC)It was a very reasonable rate. The ladies doing the class all seem to be much older than we are, but that's the pace I work out, so all is good. I hope.
Nanna phoned just after I posted this saying her leg wouldn't stop weeping. Knowing how frustrated she's been with the doctors lately I knew it must be really bothering her to make her ring like she did. So we've got her an appointment at the walk in centre for 8oclock. Hopefully that doctor will dress her leg at least. Apparently she's been using toilet roll wrapped around her leg to mop up the fluid.
That cake and beans better taste delicious, and last a long time! *g*

Date: 2016-05-21 05:38 pm (UTC)Nanna phoned just after I posted this saying her leg was badly weeping. It sounds like lymph fluid, and apparently she's been mopping it up with toilet paper for the last few days. So we've got her an appointment at the local walk in centre and will be taking her there soon.
I can't believe she's managed with the stairs she has for so long. The council put her two bannisters in and she has to haul herself up using them both. And then puts two sheets of white paper on the side of the bottom steps so she can tell when she's at the bottom, which of course is dangerous in itself.
I'm just glad she's finally realised it's time for more help. Something that's well overdue.

Date: 2016-05-22 11:54 am (UTC)And good luck with swimming and the aqua class. Sounds like it is a good fit for you, and possible James (at least the Jacuzzi).

Date: 2016-05-22 02:54 pm (UTC)She's home now and we've been up twice to make sure she's okay and will be going up at 9:30 to help her to bed as she wants to sleep at home tonight. Then tomorrow my uncle will be home and we'll take it from there.
I'm loving swimming so much, and James loves lounging in the jacuzzi. So it's a win all around.

Date: 2016-05-22 04:25 pm (UTC)It's comforting to hear that Nanna's doing better and that there will be some modifications done to her house.
Huh, after seeing US fans complaining about having to wait, I was under the impression that the final season of The Musketeers had aired solely in the UK. Perhaps those fans were people who'd prefer for the network airing rather than watching the show through other ~means~?
Ah, the pool classes sound like they'll be right up your alley.
Beans and cake is an interesting combination from the culinary perspective. As long as it's not bean cake, eh?
Oh, and thankies for the shoutout! <3

Date: 2016-05-22 06:15 pm (UTC)Have fun at the Aqua class!
Your poor nanna! I see from your comments that she's doing better now. It must be a relief for you that she's finally realised she needs her house adapted if she's going to continue to live at home. I hope everything will work out for her and you. *sends many good thoughts*
Ouch, that's no fun at all. But having a great wedding will hopefully make up for having to live frugaly for a while afterwards.

Date: 2016-05-22 09:16 pm (UTC)aquafit sounds like fun - and it's got to be good that you could watch a class before joining in, so you know more what to expect.
