Today we were at the limb centre so James could take his old spare leg in for an overhaul and get the one he uses looked over. Which they did, but decided instead of overhauling the old one they'd make him a brand new leg, so that was good. He's going for the camo design cover again, he does like a bit of army print.

Then after spending the morning there we went to Metrocenter to pick up my ring, and had dinner at a burger place. While there James got chatting to the manager who asked if we were shopping, and when he was told why we were there he gave us a free desert on the house, which was huge!.

After that it was home because the hairdresser was coming to give me my hair trial. Pictures behind

I like what she did. If you know me you'll know 90% of the time I have my hair down while wearing a plain hair-band, with the other time putting it up in a clip if it's hot or I'm going out. So the hairdresser didn't want to do anything too elaborate as she said I wouldn't be me, and she was right.

I really do love what she did. Like I told her, I didn't think my hair could actually do that. Now all I need is a few pretty clips to put along the front and I'm good.

Not the best picture of me but it shows the front nicely, she suggested small flower or gem clips along the front.

Last time I posted I said nanna hadn't been too well and had fallen, well things got worse just after that when she phoned saying her leg was weeping so badly she couldn't stand it. That night we ended up taking her to the walk in center, where they found out she had really bad fluid retention, which is why the fluid was basically seeping from her leg -- seriously, her slipper was saturated -- very low blood pressure and was just all to pot. They bandaged her leg and that night she slept at our house as we have a downstairs toilet and the stair lift as she's lost all confidence in being able to get up stairs as she couldn't lift her leg very well. While she was welcome to stay she went home the next night, mostly because she's happier at home, and also she's not keen on the cats and keeping all four of them out of her way was a bit difficult. So every night since we've gone up to hers at 10 and I help her up to bed and make sure she gets up okay.

On Monday we arranged from a man from the council to come out and we're going to meet him up there tomorrow where he's going to see what she needs in terms of adaptions and especially a stair lift, hopefully that will go in asap as while I don't mind going up nightly it does mean she's trapped downstairs all day unless someone else turns up.

She also saw her doctor yesterday, the same one who said she'd come to see nanna on Thursday at home, but then didn't turn up, phoned and said nanna had to come down to the practice yesterday instead. My nanna's brother went with her then, and I'm glad because the doctor turned around and said the symptoms nanna's been having with her heartburn and digestion could be cancer and did she want tests and wrote a note on a piece of paper saying about the possibility of cancer and to find out would mean hospital tests including a camera up her bottom.

And just, way to jump to the worst case scenario without ruling other stuff out first. Nanna's said she's not worried yet, so I'm not either. But even so, fuck cancer and how it's always lurking like a black fog.

That reminds me. On Sunday we went to watch the people do the race for life, which is a walk or running race for ladies which raises funds to fight cancer. All the people involved had squares on their backs saying who they were racing for, and the messages were heartbreaking to read. Most people wear some kind of pink and it was just this sea of pink, wings and halos and tutus, and they were selling flowers, purple for survivors of cancer, pink for people who'd been lost and it was such a nice atmosphere, and I was standing there thinking, next year I could try the 5k walk for dad. I could do that now, but it would take all day so I'd want to be fitter and faster, but maybe.

Oh, and Kayleigh finally has a job \o/ and starts it the day before the wedding. There's a chance they may let her attend still, but I swear, between my brother being on holiday, my nanna keep saying she thinks she's too poorly to go and now this, it's like my family are being whittled away one by one in terms of attending.

But I'm not going to end on a negative note because generally things are fine, and I have kind of awesome hair right now, and with the amount of pins in it it may stay like that forever!

Sorry for the lack of recent comment replies, btw. Things have been a bit busy lately, but I will catch up asap.

That's an ENORMOUS dessert! (And James' expression makes me giggle :-)

You're looking wonderful with your hair up. Add in some flowers and you're going to be one fabulous bride!

Your poor nanna! That doctor sounds kind of awful. No interpersonal skills at all!

Having it as a goal to participate next year sounds like a great idea to me.

Hooray for Kayleigh getting a job!! It's too bad it means she won't be able to come to the wedding though.

I love your hair! It looks fancy but still very you, your hairdresser is wise. :)

Sorry to hear your Nanna has been having more problems. I hope they can sort her out with a stairlift ASAP!

Poor Nanna - I hope the council gets her sorted out with a stair lift quickly.

Your wedding hair is LOVELY - she's done an excellent job of making it special without making it uncomfortably not you. lovely.

Oh, your poor Nanna - her doctor sounds completely *rubbish* at people, which is pretty important in that line of work!

Your hair looks fabulous - and now I'm visualising you doing the 5k next year with pink sparkly deely-boppers in your hair.
