Jul. 22nd, 2016 02:40 pmUnsurprisingly it turns out there's no MCR reunion on the cards, but I remain thrilled that we're getting something new. TBP is my favourite album of theirs, so I'm looking forward to seeing what's going on with the reissue. I know in the past Gerard has said it could have been a double album, so who knows, some new songs may appear. Whatever happens you know I'll be buying.
Oh, that reminds me. Brit bandom people who collect Pop Vinyl, they have a sale going on, two for £15 and they have two Gerard's and for anyone else, loads of other figures for that price.
Excellent news about nanna. Getting in touch with social services was very much the best thing we could have done. Since we called and in the space of a few days nanna has been assessed, is getting a key safe fitted on Monday, has a physio coming out to help her regain some of her strength and best of all, is having a team of two carers coming out on a night to help her to bed. This is part of a team set up to help elderly, sick and disabled people get the help they need to stay in their own homes. Initially it's a six week thing, but in that time they'll continue to assess and decide what permanent help she needs.
She had the first carer bed visit last night and said they were lovely ladies, so I think this is going to work. It means she's not feeling like a burden to her family, and the professionals will be there to see her daily and ensure she does get all the help that's out there. For example, they were going to come in the mornings too to do a bit housework, make meals etc but she's capable of doing that for herself at the moment, and obviously wants to hang onto as much independence as possible as long as she can. But if that changes in the future they'll be there ready.
James had good news too. At the moment he does twelve hour shifts three shifts on, three shifts off. With the hour commute either side it means on work days he's just getting home in time to eat some tea before it's nearly time to start getting ready for bed. It's a long time in an intense job and he's been finding it hard for a while, so asked if he could cut the length of his shifts down but work an extra day, and yesterday that was agreed. So in three weeks he'll go onto 9 and a half hour shifts and hopefully the extra downtime will help.
It's a lovely day today so I'm off to have some garden time. We planted cauliflowers in one of the raised beds this year and they've completely failed, so now we have a raised bed with nothing in it but a few sunflowers. So I'm going to plant some of the leftover tomato plants. They may fail too this late, but I might as well try. Better than an almost empty bed, anyway.

Date: 2016-07-22 05:08 pm (UTC)OTOH, I do wonder why the WB people are so wonky when it comes to doing the PR for any upcoming releases? How hard is it to release a promo and make sure that people won't get hyped for the wrong thing? Even worse is that, once again, they underestimated the fanbase's obsession with this band. I mean, even ONTD got all hyped up!
I'm so happy that things are working out with nanna and the social services! Being independent is a top priority for the elderly. Hooray for James getting his schedule adjusted too. :)

Date: 2016-07-22 05:22 pm (UTC)I thinking underestimating the obsession is where WB went wrong. No one can deny that tiny promo got people talking and no doubt MCR will be back in the music magazines and sites this week if not already. But it was also a promo that was too vague. It's like we've been saying here, logically you can look at it, see the date, the X and add things to together to make something based around TBP, but in your heart? I'm sure we weren't the only ones thinking.... maybe. Hell, I know we weren't.
It'll be interesting to see what happens promo wise going forward, and especially what Gerard, Mikey, Frank and Ray themselves, say.
I'm so relieved about nanna. Talking to her she's like a different person now, and when I said we could call over after James finishes work tomorrow she said not to bother and she'd be fine and we'd see her Sunday. That's such a huge change from the last few months.

Date: 2016-07-22 09:33 pm (UTC)Good to hear about Nanna and James! I hope Nanna gains more confidence again, and I know how James feels to a certain extent. Back in my late 20s I worked 12 hour shifts and it sucked, and my job wasn't as intense as James'. It's just so long and exhausting.
Good luck with the tomatoes!

Date: 2016-07-23 07:26 am (UTC)I'm so happy nanna's getting solid help now. Though I just hope she remembers she has to leave the chain off the door so the carers can actually use the key in the key safe. She's a habit of forgetting and is so deaf she doesn't hear the doorbell going.
I can easily imagine how exhausted you'd get. They are very long days, and while it isn't a big cut, those two and a half hours will make a big difference.
Tomatoes are all planted so now I'm on snail watch!

Date: 2016-07-23 06:40 pm (UTC)I didn't even know what Pop Vinyl was until I clicked on that link. I like my Bad Taste Gerard Bear much better :-)
It's so good to hear things are working out for your nanna! And good news about James too. Twelve hour shifts isn't human!
Too bad about the cauliflower. I'll keep my fingers crossed the tomatoes will flourish.

Date: 2016-08-02 05:20 pm (UTC)Yep, that's it exactly. We've still gone up to see her near daily, but at times that suit us both.
James' new shifts start in a couple of weeks, and I'll be glad when they're here. Those extra hours at home are going to make a lot of difference.

Date: 2016-08-02 05:23 pm (UTC)The Pop Vinyls are fun. I like how varied they are, I've a baby Groot that's as cute as a button. But I agree, Bad Taste Gerard bear is better.
Weirdly some of the caulis have made a comeback. How I don't know because they were little more than stalks.
