Aug. 9th, 2016 01:03 pmHad unexpected good news just now when my uncle phoned to say nanna was going home. Last I heard she was going to be discharged this coming weekend after a new caring system had been put in place, but it seems that's happened much faster than expected so she'll be home later this afternoon.
She's doing okay. Still very frail but as long as she's taking her new meds the heart issues should be under control for the moment. She does have to have carers three times a day now, so morning, dinner time and night, and my uncle is arranging to have a stairlift put in. Nanna will have to pay for that, but getting one from social services seems like it's going to be impossible and the council will take 6 months to arrange, which is far too long.
So yes, great news.
Last Friday I went to see Suicide Squad. James had won the tickets in a radio competition so it was at a different cinema than usual. It's actually our local cinema in Sunderland, but we prefer the Odeon so travel to MetroCentre instead. It was four tickets but everyone we asked couldn't come -- maybe they were trying to tell us something D: -- so we went on our own in the end. Of course I had my usual worry about not fitting in the seat, especially as they were just the normal kind and not premier, but all was fine. Really, whatever happens in the future I suspect I'll always have those worries, they're just too engrained now.
It was a fun night with cos-players outside of the cinema, though I was a little surprised to see we were seated only two rows back from the screen, which was a bit weird. As for the movie itself
I liked it okay, but it was nothing special. The action was okay and I liked the characters, but I don't know, there was just something missing though I couldn't say what. Corey was home that night and I was talking to him about the movie as he'd been to the midnight showing the night before and he really didn't like it, mainly because he reads the comics and thought Joker and Harley Quinn had been miscast and didn't mesh with the comic versions. While I liked both of them, especially Harley, though I haven't read the comics so have nothing to compare them to.
Overall, it was an entertaining evening, but I have no desire for a rewatch.
Jacie just linked to this over at popcomm. Everyone from Nsync celebrating JC's 40'th birthday. Be still my little sparkly heart. That made me very happy to see.
Now I'm going to go back to writing my terribly indulgent Musketeers spacefic. And while doing that ignore the fandom, all of which seems to hate the last episode and lots my favourite character. Though what is weird, while the show is slashy is all hell, I'm enjoying the het ship most seem to dislike with a passion.

Date: 2016-08-09 12:52 pm (UTC)And totally unrelated, but I've just read a comment from someone needing to know what happens at the end of the coma!Pete story. So I may just sit here and happily imagine that for a while.

I KNOW AGAIN! That's what I focussed in on. Excellent draping Chris. I approve.

Also, I was going to mention, I know how you feel about your self-indulgent Musketeers story. I feel the same way about my Glee stuff. No one on my flist cares, the fandom doesn't do it for me, but I still can't resist writing my stories.
So good luck writing!!

Date: 2016-08-09 01:34 pm (UTC)He does. I've just been reading the article too and it says how Joey was clinging to Joey while Lance crouched above them all on the couch. So, some Trickc, Timbertone with Lance the voyeur. I can go with that.
Yep. We're so in the same boat. I wish the fandom did do it for me, but I'm miles away opinion wise than the people I see on LJ. I do like how the tumblr people call Aramis murderkitty, though. That fits, so they get a thumbs up for that.
Enjoy your writing, too! We can be very self indulgent together.

Date: 2016-08-09 01:22 pm (UTC)JC's 40? Huh, I thought he was at least 5-10 years younger than that. #Themoreyouknow
NGL, I was v. pumped to go see S.Squad after watching the previews (which did her a tad obnoxious by the third one, but whatever.) From what I've heard, the movie is overall better than BvS, bit it's not as amazing as TPTB tried to sell it as. I'm still planning to go see it sometime in the next three weeks or so.

Date: 2016-08-09 01:29 pm (UTC)It's weird to think JC is 40, and after reading the article the photo was attached to, remember Nsync split up in 2002. It's seeing dates like that that reminds me I've been in fandom a very long time.
Yep, that sounds about right to me. I did enjoy it, but it just wasn't a knockout somehow. I'll be interested to see what you think when you do see it.

Date: 2016-08-09 01:38 pm (UTC)It's such a lulu because it doesn't feel like that much time has passed. Especially cause that means I was still 19 years old. LOL LOL LOL.

Date: 2016-08-10 07:38 pm (UTC)I completely refuse to believe that JC's 40! Boybanders just don't get that old. It's against the laws of nature!
