Happy Valentine's day, or belated galentine's day, or Thursday, take your pick.
The first thing I saw when I looked at Insta this morning was Mikey's photo of him and Gerard at the Umbrella Academy screening. Such a good way to start the day.
Other things, no tags is done and at beta, so that's another thing crossed off the list.
Yesterday the electrician came and checked the wires and sockets. I don't think I said but I had another socket burn out since the one behind the washer. He changed the socket and thinks the issue is I've been using the same socket to run both the washer and dishwasher at the same time. The wires themselves are designed to cope with that, but the extension sockets I'd been using weren't, which led to them burning out. Problem is, I only have the one socket behind the washer and nothing where the dishwasher is. At some point we intend redoing the kitchen and moving the fuse box, and when that happens we'll get more sockets installed, until then, it's either an extension for the dishwasher or making sure they're never on at the same time.
We've been to see my MiL at the hospital earlier, where she was crying because the doctor wants to send her home and she feels she's not ready to go home. James had a talk to the nurses who say they won't discharge her until the physio has practised getting up a step with her, but even so, I'm fully expecting a phone call tomorrow to say she's been discharged.
It's been a lovely sunny day, and I've managed to dry a wash on the line, but now I need to go and attempt to wash egg off my bedroom window as some idiots thought it would be fun to throw eggs at the house. If I can't reach I'll have to attempt to blast it with the hosepipe, because it looks horrible right now.

Date: 2019-02-14 05:44 pm (UTC)Yess that pic made me squee! I’m so glad he was there (and Ray too) 🖤
I just finished my no tags, go team!
Boo electrical stuff. It’s a common issue not hVing enough sockets and relying on extensions. Thankfully ours behave but you never know
I hope she’s gonna be ok
It’s been sunny here too!

Date: 2019-02-18 08:16 am (UTC)That was a good way to think about it.
I loved that picture of Mikey and Gerard, and all the ones with Ray too. I went looking for them when you mentioned them, and hi Ray! It's so good seeing him again.
It's annoying having to rely on extensions, but until I save enough money for a kitchen remodel that's what we'll have to do.

Date: 2019-02-17 05:07 pm (UTC)That is very true. If I ever do remodel the kitchen I'm going to ask for so many plugs, having a handful in stupid places just doesn't cut it.

Date: 2019-02-15 05:56 am (UTC)I figured out a neat window-washing trick a while back. Use a clean sponge mop (like for floors) for washing windows -- first pass, kind of wet, second pass, squeezed dry.
I looked on Amazon UK and found this model with a telescoping handle. That -- or probably any model sponge mop -- would make it easier to reach, and help avoid falling-off-ladder accidents. Good luck.
And I do NOT understand why thoughtless hooligans have their "fun" by making someone else work. I wish they could be caught and put to community service cleaning up such messes made by other people; after about 100 hours, I bet they'd never want to deface someone else's property again.

I agree with you completely. It makes no sense, I mean, what enjoyment do you get throwing eggs at windows?

Date: 2019-02-17 05:46 pm (UTC)We've had unusually warm weather here the last couple of days. With sunshine! I'm very happy I don't have to spend it cleaning eggs from my windows. I hope you managed to get it off?

Date: 2019-02-18 08:08 am (UTC)It's such a frustrating situation because I'm sure back in the day the building planners didn't expect so many power hungry appliances would be around, therefore the lack of sockets. But at the same time, that doesn't help now when you have to use extensions or in your case, stick to one socket only.
I've just been listening to the weather forecast and they were saying it's going to be unseasonably warm all week with sunshine. Which is lovely, but weird. It feels like we haven't have a real winter at all.
The egg is still there. I overestimated the length of my arms and the hose couldn't blast it off. We used to have a window cleaner but he hasn't been seen for months now. So I think I'll have to buy the gadget Starwatcher linked to above because the dried on egg doesn't look good.

Date: 2019-02-18 07:33 am (UTC)That sounds very frustrating about the washer and dishwasher. I hope it doesn't get too tedious to have to alternate them. Or at least, less tedious than constant repairs. And than egg cleaning - what a shitty thing for whoever that was to do. D:
Sending best wishes for your mother-in-law. I hope if/when she goes home, she'll get the right support to be able to do well there.

Date: 2019-02-18 08:10 am (UTC)As you say, it's less tedious alternating than the repairs, and the burning sockets really could have got dangerous. So alternating use it is.
Thank you. The physios are working hard with my MiL and she manages to walk to the end of her bed now and get up a step, so she's progressing.
