James went back to work yesterday. On a phased return at first of four hours a shift, going up two hours after his next set of shifts and again until he's back to full-time hours. The only thing was, he was told he was in 9-1, got to work and it was actually 9-1 at night and not a day shift. They let him stay as he was just reading emails etc yesterday but is back on a short night shift today. He should have double-checked, but neither of us expected a phased return to finish at 1 am. It means he won't even be leaving for work until 8 tonight, which is weird.
Lots has gone on since I last posted. It was Pauline's birthday so we took her out to eat, had the meal out with my In-Laws which was very nice, then yesterday, Kayleigh was in an accident that wrote off her car. Thankfully she's fine and it was the other persons fault so she won't be paying out. Her car has already been taken away though, which is why we picked her up from work earlier and took her to pick up a hire car.
We've been to see Ad Astra, where James outdid himself and fell asleep five minutes in, and the new Rambo which was stupid had no plot and was far too violent for my taste. All of which I knew before going in but it was a film James really wanted to see.
We lost our parking appeal and a few days ago got a letter to say we owe tax money. Not a lot but even so.
Tinker is doing better. She was in for her third B12 yesterday and has put on weight each time. She has a check-up with the vet next week -- yesterday was just the assistant to get the injection -- and hopefully, she'll go to being monitored over months and not weekly.
I went for my latest lymphodema appointment, which I'll cut for
My right leg, which has always been my 'good' one, has lost a pint of fluid, the other has stayed the same. I've been prescribed new compressions which should come in a week or so as they're specially made. Hopefully, they'll make a difference as the compression isn't as good with the ones I have now, especially on my right leg.
After some small talk, I mentioned how I've been decorating and my lymph nurse said he should really tell me off for that as I'm supposed to elevate my legs and not exert myself. Which of course is a total contradiction to what I'm supposed to do for weight loss. Thankfully he added that he has to be realistic and knows that it's not good to just stay on the couch and elevate but not to push too much. Which fine, I guess I can cross running a marathon off my list.
Houghton Feast started last night. The fairground is in town and the huge ride that towers over the shops can be seen from my house again. We didn't go to the opening show as it was raining but will walk into town and go to the parade later. I do like Feast time when I go outside and can smell chips, candy floss and toffee apples and hear the faint music of the fair.
I've decorated the landing using the leftover wallpaper from the bedroom, turns out that papering bumpy walls isn't as easy as smooth plasterboard but I did it and even worked out how to cut in the light switch and plug. I've also put up the new curtain hooks and some decorative shelves, so the bedroom is looking good. I had planned on painting the downstairs toilet, but haven't got around to that yet. We've got a really bright lime green for in there, it may look terrible and too much, but I figure why not give it a try?
I haven't written a word or even read anything fannish for a while, but will hopefully change that once I'm back from the Feast.

Aww James sleeping so quick Ugh that sucksabout the tax though
I hope those new compressions help
Ohh that sounds nice, I hope the weather stays good for you to have a nice time

Date: 2019-10-05 03:44 pm (UTC)Yeah, someone pulled out without looking at a junction and crashed straight into the front side. It could have been so much worse though, for both drivers. Though the one who caused the crash was only 18 so much have just passed her test. I hate to think how much her insurance will jump up.
It's the recliners at Durham, they knock him out every time. The problem was, Ad Astra had a load of totally silent moments due to it being in space, so I had to keep digging James in the ribs as he kept snorting at the worst times.
Thankfully it hasn't rained today, which makes a change. The showfield tends to become a bog at Houghton Feast time.

There went your plans for October? I wish sometimes healthcare people could agree with each other. Go you for papering the landing, though!

You never know, I could have managed a marathon over October, just you know, the distance spread over the whole month and at walking pace *g*

Date: 2019-10-05 05:16 pm (UTC)I'm glad Kayleigh is alright, though it sucks about her car. glad to know it wasn't her fault, and the other party is on the hook for expenses!

Date: 2019-10-06 08:16 am (UTC)An accident is always horrible, but we're both glad it was the other persons fault. I'd hate to think of the cost of arranging a hire car etc, and then the inevitable insurance hike, if she was the one at fault.

Date: 2019-10-05 07:04 pm (UTC)What a faff for poor Kayleigh - I'm glad she was alright, sounds like that's the best kind of result for an RTC that causes damage, but what a FAFF.
You are turning into a decorating FIEND - wallpapering is DIFFICULT, I hope you're proper smug when you look at it!

Date: 2019-10-06 08:11 am (UTC)Faff is right. The person who drove into her was a really young driver and their parent/boyfriend wanted Kayleigh to allow them to do repairs and not involve the insurance. I'm so glad she said no because the car was a mess, goodness knows what was wrong beyond the obvious cosmetic damage.
I'm very smug! Though I do seem to have an inability to cut paper straight after I've pasted the rolls. After having to patch yet another bit at the bottom where I'd cut slanted, I started to leave the overhangs until they dried and I could take more time. Obviously scissor work is a bit advanced for me still *g*

Phooey on the parking people. And it sounds like quite a catch-22 with respect to physical exertion.
But go you wallpapering the landing! I bet it looks terrific!
Lime green? I could picture that being quite cheerful, as long as there are some accents to break it up perhaps?

Date: 2019-10-06 08:07 am (UTC)Kayleigh was very lucky, and Tinker is living the high life with special food which she thankfully likes.
Catch-22 is the perfect way to describe it. I'm glad my nurse is realistic as if I stuck to what I was supposed to be doing I'd be on the couch with my legs raised for most of my life.
The landing looks lovely, better than the old paper which had claw marks in it from one of the cats.
The toilet is small, but light as it has a big window and is on the side of the house. It will need breaking up with something or I'd imagine it would be like walking inside of a lime. But, the good thing is, if it is too much it can be painted over easily.

*giggles* That does sound like a bit of a record even for James! I take it he DIDN'T fall asleep during Rambo?
Good luck with the new compressions!
You're being so productive, go you! Bright lime green sounds like a fun colour for a toilet. I say, go for it!

Date: 2019-10-11 09:16 am (UTC)She could have so easily been hurt. Apparently, the driver just drove out of the junction without looking.
No, he stayed awake every moment of Rambo. Though, during that, I wish I had his ability to sleep through a very noisy film in a public space.
I'm very pleased with how all the decorating is going. I haven't started the lime green painting yet, but that's because I want a full day where I've nothing else planned so I can get it done in one go. I tend to be a messy painter, and green splats all over my skin and hair isn't a good look when I need to go out *g*

Date: 2019-10-18 04:40 pm (UTC)Ad Astra was a whole lotta nothing (imo). I watched it on streaming and was nodding off abt 30 mins in (despite not being tired at all.) The marketing also made it look like it was going to have a lot more action scenes that it did.
I knew the new Rambo movie was a mess when the dude who wrote the book the character is based on actually denounced this latest installment of the franchise. Hopefully, it'll be the last one?
Oh, darn, T. I can't believe you gotta rest more. Here I was about to sign you up for a 5k run. ;)

Ad Astra was a weird one. It was nothing like I was expecting and while I appreciated the visuals it was a really weird mix of total silence and scenes that just tailed off into nothing.

I'm sure you know my feelings about Rambo by now, but omfg, it remains the worst film I've seen this year by a mile.
