Oct. 18th, 2019 12:33 pmI was supposed to be going to my aunt's today, but Kayleigh has come down with a cold and feels terrible and as she was my lift the visit has been postponed until next weekend. I suspect she's got the same cold I've had since last week, not enough to knock you off your feet but enough to make you feel rough. I was feeling much better today and thought I sounded it until Kayleigh said I should phone Irene as it still sounded like I was sick. But no, she can have that job. Not that my aunt will be mad we're not going, just, she always buys and makes a load of food. Hopefully she won't have started to cook yet and it can all be frozen.
It does mean I need to plan and make something for tea. I was planning on being fed by Irene and her sending leftovers home for James.
Which means an unexpected day in for me today. Though, I may take a quick walk to the chemist to pick up my new compressions that were delivered there yesterday. It was raining hard earlier but the sun has come out, so it's a nice afternoon to get out.
In the last few days we went to see Gemini Man, which was okay. Though the young Will Smith was a bit weird. Well done for the most part but still weird. James did get to be dramatic on that visit and fell up the steps at the cinema. Because he can't straighten his arms he can't break any falls so when he goes down he goes down and has to hit the ground. There wasn't a thing I could do as I was behind him on the steps and just had to watch as he bounced off the seats and landed in the aisle. He was fine, nothing hurt at all, but it was a bit of a dramatic moment.
Then two nights ago he was drinking a can of pepsi max in bed and managed to drop it. To say I was unamused was an understatement as I was woken up and had to strip the bed. Thankfully one of the things we got from mam's was a super king size quilt. We've never opened it as while we have a superkingsize bed, we only have a king quilt as finding superkingsize bedding is a bit difficult. So that was opened and used and it's a really nice quilt. It was very expensive when mam bought it -- why she did so I'm not sure, she only had a double bed but I guess it was just part of her online shopping addiction she developed -- and is made of this crinkly material that's very strange. It's thick, very warm but rustles like plastic. Thankfully it can also be jammed inside kingsize bedding, so no need to buy more.
I had a lovely walk in the park a few days ago. It was good to get out in the sunshine and stretch my legs. I did a loop that took me down to the river, and when I got there all the swans that had been lurking on the field above started streaming down. There were easily hundreds of them and they'd obviously become used to people feeding in that area. Sadly I had no food to give, so had to inch my way through the river of swans all the time being given beady looks from swans that looked like they wanted to peck me down for grain. If you haven't seen on Insta, some photos of that are here.
Supergirl has started again. And the Good Doctor, The Walking Dead and many other shows both new to me and old favourites. And what am I watching during the day? The Christmas movie channel. Man, I'm a sucker for them, I love every single clichéd stupid moment of them. Yesterday James asked why I like them so much, especially as they seem to recycle the same actors and plot. And it's just, they make me feel cosy and content even while knowing 99% of the time they're painting an unrealistic picture.
I also wrote words yesterday. Who knows, I may actually finish that bodyswap one day.

Date: 2019-10-18 12:18 pm (UTC)Ok, here it goes again. Maybe shorter, this time around (sorry).
So! As I was saying! James! Talk about giving us a heart attack! Relieved to hear he didn't hurt himself, though.
That day in sounded like a good idea, after all, even if you were looking forward to seeing your aunt. Sometimes, an extra day home is just what one needs, after a cold.
The Christmas movie channel. Man, I'm a sucker for them, I love every single clichéd stupid moment of them.
Oh, tell me about it! Apparently, the (few) French networks that are showing Christmas films have announced the starting date (meaning, early November) and I am so excited! The trailers they showed were so incredibly cheesy one would need a brand new word to describe how cheesy they are but I am so happy about it! I cannot wait! So, yes, (unsurprisingly) I get you, mate, I get you ;)

Date: 2019-10-18 02:37 pm (UTC)I'm so glad James didn't fall backwards as he would have really hurt himself, and no doubt took me out too. It's also good no one else was in the row as he ended up on the floor in front of the seats. It was just really good luck he was unhurt.
Staying in was a good decision. I did go to the doctors to pick up my compressions and felt like a wheezy train coming back uphill, so I guess I'm not all the way there yet. So, a short walk and the rest of the day inside was probably the way to go, and we'll get to catch up next weekend.
Our Christmas movie channel has been on since the beginning of this month. I have to laugh because a few people have said who watches Christmas films that early and each time I can say, me. I do.
It's amazing how cheesy they get, and the formula hardly ever changes. And yet, I love them loads, and am very glad you understand the attraction.

Date: 2019-10-18 02:27 pm (UTC)Oh he's fine. I'm just glad he fell sideways and not back, that would have led to a disaster.

Date: 2019-10-18 01:54 pm (UTC)I've still been marathoning Silent Witness.

Date: 2019-10-18 02:29 pm (UTC)Silent Witness is an excellent choice. I love when you can just settle in and marathon something good.

Date: 2019-10-18 02:36 pm (UTC)I've loved Silent Witness. The cases are such fun to try to puzzle out and the cast is always fantastic. :)

Date: 2019-10-18 02:04 pm (UTC)Oh no! I’m glad he was ok but that sounds scary. Though damnit James!
That sounds like a scary swarm!
So many things starting, I hope they’re good. I’ve not watched any Christmas films, I don’t really watch them all that much even on christmas
Ohhh yay words!

Date: 2019-10-18 02:41 pm (UTC)It was scary. It's been ages since he's fallen like that, especially in such a spectacular and public manner.
It was a scary swarm. I guess they were hungry and are used to people feeding them at that spot on the river, so when they saw me there the swarm turned.
Yeah, a lot of people don't watch the Christmas films, but I'm in love with the cheese. Thankfully Sky indulges me with that.
How's your words going today? Is there another kinktober ready to go or are you caught up?

Date: 2019-10-18 03:35 pm (UTC)I know the feeling, my mum has falls too and it’s always scary
It’s a good job you had no food, they might have mobbed you!
Aww that’s good! Are there any good ones?
I just finished yesterday’s since I went tired last night. Gonna have a break and work on today’s later

Date: 2019-10-19 11:02 am (UTC)Aww that’s good! Are there any good ones?
Honestly, they all tend to blur together at this point. When it gets closer to Christmas itself they air the bigger budget films, at this point it's all low budget people falling in love over hot chocolate, christmas tree farms being sold, people trying to get home for the holidays etc. And yet, I still love them all.

Date: 2019-10-19 11:00 am (UTC)Swans in a gang are scary things. Looking up and seeing a white mass of swans coming toward me was just a bit startling.

Date: 2019-10-19 12:19 am (UTC)And I'm glad James wasn't hurt too much. Falling is scary!
Yay words!

Date: 2019-10-19 10:25 am (UTC)It is scary, and that was just watching. Especially so as I knew no way could I help stop it.
Words have stalled again. I'm the worst.

Date: 2019-10-19 02:32 am (UTC)Glad to hear James wasn't hurt. That must have been a shock to see. - And the soda in the bed sounds very tedious, though how providential that you had a spare quilt at hand.
I'm also glad that you survived the swannening.

Date: 2019-10-19 10:21 am (UTC)James nearly got the empty can thrown at his head when I had to get up and change the bed. The spare quilt remains strange, I've never known a matrical like it. Or maybe all expensive quilts are crinkly like that. Whatever, it's very warm and cosy so all was well in the end.
Those swans had very beady looks. It's probably best I didn't have food on me or I'd have been mugged.

Date: 2019-10-19 05:01 pm (UTC)Maybe James wantd to get in the spirit of action movies? All kidding aside, I'm glad to hear that he's okay. Taking a tumble is no joke.
Gemini Man was supposed to be some great movie that was, for reasons no one can explain, also filmed in a v. specific way. Basically, the movie is meant to be shown at 120 fps (which would make the slo-mo moments even more intense. sorta) but 98% of the movie theaters around the world show movies at 24-30 fps. So, the film isn't even being shown the way it was meant to be seen. No one has any idea why Ang Lee decided to use that format, but there we are.
OMG at all those swans! It was like right out of a horror movie, hahahahaha

Date: 2019-10-21 01:26 pm (UTC)Lol, pity he couldn't have done an action roll along the floor and then he could have said he was getting in the spirit.
I didn't know that about the filming of Gemini Man, I can sort of see why he wanted that due to the fighting scenes, but what's the point when only a handful of theatres can actually show it in the correct format. It seems a lot of effort for now gain.
It's a strange film for me. Like so many I didn't hate it but didn't love it either. At least it wasn't Rambo. That's going to be my measure from now on. If ever say I've seen something worse than Rambo you'll know it was horrific.
So many swans!

Date: 2019-10-21 07:02 pm (UTC)I feel that a lot of SRS BIZNESS movie folks are just as perplexed as to why Ang Lee would use that format too. He's either way ahead of the curve OR he's trying real hard to make fetch happen. Time will tell, I guess.
LOL at your Rambo comment.

Date: 2019-10-20 08:19 pm (UTC)Poor James! I'm glad he didn't hurt himself when he fell like that.
Pepsi all over the bed sounds really icky! You're lucky you had the quilt from your mam. Sounds to me like you need to institute a rule about no drinking in bed :-)
I don't think I've ever seen that many swans together before. Swans are scary! The little dog sculpture however is adorable.
You wrote, go you!!! *waves happy pompoms*

Date: 2019-10-21 01:19 pm (UTC)I'm so glad he didn't hurt himself. The last thing he needed was more time off work, and that could have so easily have happened.
No drinking in bed is a good rule. Now we've used it for a while I'm loving the quilt, it's mega warm and yet really light. That crinkly material is magic.
Swans are scary. You forget how big they are until they're close. It was very unnerving to suddenly be surrounded by that mob.
