Oct. 25th, 2019 08:32 amThank you
dine for the card. You're so very welcome ♥
We went to see the new Maleficent film on Wednesday, and it was great. I enjoyed it so much and has thankfully bucked the trend of recent films that I neither loved nor hated. Well, apart from Rambo, that firmly remains the thumbs down pile. Maleficent isn't a perfect film by any stretch and has its ridiculous moments, but it was colourful and engaging and I enjoyed it all.
We were actually going to see it on Monday originally, had booked the tickets and everything. But, a bit of drama with the in-laws happened and we were half expecting to have my niece and nephew delivered to the door that night. But, that didn't happen and everything worked out well in the end. Though, my SiL now has to fit three home/parenting help visits a week into her packed schedule. How she's supposed to do that when my niece and nephew are at school I don't know, but that's for social services to work out.
Talking of. They were supposed to come on Wednesday at 4, but we got a call saying the fostering team couldn't make it, so it's now been pushed to next Wednesday. On one hand, it's a little frustrating, but on the other, it's reassuring that they obviously do see us as an extreme emergency back up only, as there's no hurry to get things started.
On the recommendation of wenchpixie I've been watching Zomboat, and it's a lot of fun. I'm also three episodes into Prodigal Son, and really liking that, too. Other than that I've been powering my way through Station 19 on the nights and still watch Christmas movies too
I've also been working my way through Life in Pieces on Amazon, that's a cute show and as it's in little bite-size chunks it's perfect to watch while I'm doing surveys.
Today we need to go to Kwik Fit as Clem has a flat. Poor James had a bad shift at work last night, he wasn't feeling well, got told he would be being put on a stage for absence after all and some other stuff went on that wasn't good. He finished at 11:30, got home just before midnight and realised he had a flat. Thankfully mobility cars come with roadside assistance, so he phoned last night and someone is coming out today between 10-12 and driving with him to Kwik Fit, where again, as part of the scheme, the repairs are free. Which is great, but he really could have done with doing nothing but rest before his shift tonight.
ETA: The RAC man has been and I've just spent nearly 30 minutes looking for the locking wheel nut box in the car. I had the boot emptied, all the door panels searched, under the seats and it was nowhere. Then when the guy was on the verge of breaking the wheel nuts by force to put on a temp tyre, I looked under the boot cover, and there was the wheel nut box, in the little holder where it's supposed to be.

Date: 2019-10-25 10:23 am (UTC)There's always something, and then things work out. I just wish they would work out without the stress aspect.
Zomboat is fun. I always enjoy a bit of comedy zombie.
Well, he's at Kwik Fit now getting the type changed. When the guy looked at it there was a big hole in it, so goodness knows how that happened. Hopefully, he'll be back soon and can get his head down for a nap.

Date: 2019-10-26 04:00 pm (UTC)I was convinced the car had been for a tyre change since we'd got it. I could even mentally see the locking tyre nut box in the glove box, but nope. I must have been remembering the last car because this box had obviously never been out of the holder. But I know for next time I guess.

Date: 2019-10-26 05:48 pm (UTC)This is a quiet weekend (moviewise) for me. I'm rewatching The Fall on Netflix (Season 1 is getting pulled next month) and it still hold up. Next weekend, though, I'm going to see one of my most anticipated movies (Parasite) followed by Jojo Rabbit on Saturday. And then, I'm going to see Termnator: ALL THE QUEER LADIES WILL BE KICKING EVIL ROBOT BUTT, i.e. Terminator:Dark Fate, on Sunday. I'm EXCITE!
Oh noes at Clem and the Foster Service rescheduling. X____X
I'm still on my AHS 1984 (which has continued to be bonkers AF) and L&O:SVU kick. It's funny because I get the feeling that younger!me would've loved Prodigal Son. Alas.

Date: 2019-10-27 08:29 am (UTC)We're going to see Terminator:Dark Fate sometime this week. James has a week off, an actual planned week off this time not sick related, so I suspect we'll be watching a lot of films. We're both really looking forward to Terminator as the trailers have looked great.
I haven't seen Parasite or Jojo Rabbit advertised I don't think. Right, just went to Google and Jojo Rabbit isn't showing here until January next year, and Parasite in February so that's why.
I'd say I hope you enjoy them, but I'm sure you will. Let me know what you think after, either in a post or in one of my many film posts *g*
I've never watched any of the L&O, which is weird as I watch a load of other shows of the same kind. One day, maybe. Though it's so long-running I suspect I'll need a very long time to see them all.
I'm finding Prodigal Son interesting. I haven't looked for fic yet, but know it's out there as I have a friend who loves the show and fandom. Maybe I'll have a look when this month is over and my inbox isn't being swamped by MCU kinktober and whumptober notifications.

Date: 2019-10-26 06:31 pm (UTC)Uhg, poor James - is he a union member? It might be worth talking to them if so, just to make sure everything's all fair.

Date: 2019-10-27 08:40 am (UTC)Life in Pieces is great to watch when I'm also doing other stuff. I often watch a segment then go off and do something else. I was sad to hear it had been cancelled as I'm attached to the family, now.
James is a union member, thankfully. I think he's had a chat to them but I'll make sure when he wakes up. His work have been decent to him in the past, but this about-turn to put him on a warning was unexpected.

Date: 2019-10-26 07:56 pm (UTC)Poor James! It's so typical bad things happen on top of each other like that. Including the silly wheel nut box being in the last place you looked!

Date: 2019-10-27 08:42 am (UTC)I couldn't believe it when I lifted the boot cover and the stupid box was right there in the place where it's meant to be stored. Even now I can still visually see it in the glove box. It just shows memories can fool you at times.
