Today we've been to the cinema to see Playing With Fire. While it was good to get out in the fresh air and have a walk, man, was the film bad. I thought I'd enjoy it as I usually like slapstick kind of humour but pretty much everything about it rubbed me up the wrong way. I hated the main character, the toilet humour, the other characters, including the kids, got on my nerves. It very nearly became a two toilet visit to waste more time instead of having to watch. Looking at reviews it seems to be a Marmite movie in that people either love it or hate it. To me, I'm very much on the hate side.

I think tonight will be for catching up on some recorded Christmas tv. I've a load of things to watch as all I've actually seen so far was the new Gavin and Stacy, so I have Bake Off, Strictly, Call the Midwife and a few other specials to get through.

So, as plans go. Not a bad one at all.

It was an excellent surprise.

Normally I'm all about a bit of slapstick, but this time it left me cold.

Still haven't caught up on the Christmas stuff. At this rate I'll be watching when it's summer.

Yep.

I'm usually very easy to please in terms of films. As long as I'm entertained a little I'll happily sit and watch. But this one. It really did bug me, and what was worse everyone else in the screen seemed to think it was hilarious.

I did enjoy the tv, but not any of the Christmas specials. I ended up watching something about Hoarding, as you do.

That sounds like a very frustrating experience! It's so much easier at home when a movie is bad - you just turn it off. But having paid to watch it at the cinema I guess it would feel wrong to just walk out.

You know what the stupid thing is? With having the unlimited card, it wouldn't actually be a financial problem walking out. We more than get our money's worth each month as we pay £19 a month for us both and ticket are easily around the £10 each mark, and up to £18 if we go for IMAX screenings.

Somehow we still never walk out. I waited to the bitter end hoping it would get better. It didn't.

Yeahhhh, I think Playing With Fire sorta came and went over here too. I think that, given the rather dire fires that occurred here in the US during the summer, a lot of ppl found the theme of the movie in really poor taste.

Like, every movie will have an audience, but you do have to wonder why some couldn't just go direct to DVD or to streaming.

This really should have. I've read more reviews since then and it's getting slated a lot, as well it should. Such a bad film. Not Rambo bad, but close.
