And welcome to 2020, may it be good to us all.
I've been thinking back on last year, and it seemed to be more one of holding than anything else. But I think in a way that's because the years before were full of big things, dad died, I got married, I had the gastric balloon, nanna died, I had the bypass, then mam died. All huge things with big consequences, so in comparison last year seemed flat. I went to the theatre loads, cinema extra loads, flew abroad for the second time, kept on living my life but also got into that holding pattern that I want to change. So, I guess I'll see how that goes.
My aunt phoned this morning so as of now we're going to visit her tomorrow, which is great as she'll still have her Christmas decorations up. I'd intended taking ours down tomorrow, but it's a full day thing so they'll have to wait until Friday.
While I haven't read it yet, a longish Waycest Sentinel AU has been posted. I do enjoy the Sentinel and Guide trope, so hopefully I can read it later.
And, I have to thank
wenchpixie for the excellent response to my prompt at the bandom ficathon. She's also posted a very lovely Gerard/Ray that made me smile.
I also still have winterhawk exchange stories to read along with popslash ones, so my reading time will be full.
It's a nice, crisp sunny day here today and I'm tempted to ditch the roast and go out for a walk. We were at the beach yesterday and it was lovely to get out in the fresh air and walk by the ocean. We've also got lots of leftovers we could eat and all the stuff for the roast will keep so I have to admit, sunshine and getting out is winning over staying in and cooking right now.

I hope you have a nice time! I dunno when we’ll take our stuff down
I’ve seen the fic posted so it’s in a tab. I dunno what sentinel is though
Awww yay!🥰
I’ll likely head out soon to walk the pup, I hope it stays nice

Date: 2020-01-01 04:12 pm (UTC)Yeah, nothing of note really happened last year, but like you said, an easy year is better than a horrible one.
The Sentinel is a tv show with the main characters of Jim and Blair. Jim is a Sentinel, meaning all his senses are highly advanced, like off the scale and to control those he needs a guide, in this case Blair. There's also mystical stuff involving black panthers and wolves and zones etc, but for the purpose of fic, it's always two people, a guide and a sentinel who need each other a lot.
The show was actually one of my first fandoms, and Sentinel and Guide became a big trope with many other fandoms using it for their characters. So I'm interested in this bandom version. Which, while I still haven't read feels plausible to me due to Gerard and Mikey already being so close.
It stayed lovely while I was out. A bit chilly but what can you expect in January.

And yes from that they sound perfect for it
Yeah same here!

Date: 2020-01-01 02:59 pm (UTC)I went out for a wee walk this morning, just a 20 minute limp around the block but it did feel quite refreshing and cleared out the cobwebs after being a lazy girl last week

Date: 2020-01-01 04:07 pm (UTC)That's how I feel. We went to the local park and had a short walk to the pond to feed the swans. Us and a thousand other people it seemed, but it was nice to see all the kids on the new bikes, skateboards and whatever those motorised boards are called.

Date: 2020-01-01 06:40 pm (UTC)I think we were on the same wavelength last year. It was fine, but nothing extreme, either good or bad. Which is its own joy, if we just take the time to remember.
I saw you went for a walk! Go you! I plan on at least walking the garbage to the dumpster for a bit of air and movement. J and I went to the diner for breakfast and it was super busy, but they worked like a well-oiled machine so we were in and out in less than an hour. I left a $20 tip in thanks. J is now on the ferry, and Layla nad I have our place to ourselves again, which feels great.

True, I think we both needed the quiet times where nothing terrible or life-changing happened.
I did go for a walk and it was lovely. I'm glad you had a good visit with J, and that you can now enjoy your alone time again. Apart from the lovely Layla of course.

We went down to the sea yesterday - me, D, K and her two dogs, and it was excellent to blow away the cobwebs

The sea is the perfect place to blow away cobwebs. Blustery, sunny winters days at the ocean are some of my favourites.

Date: 2020-01-03 10:44 am (UTC)We had a couple of crisp days but it's back to no-really-cold weather today and I'm not happy about it. Hopefully the cold will make a new appearance soon *fingers crossed*

Date: 2020-01-05 05:27 pm (UTC)That's a nice way to think of it. It sounds better than just holding anyway.
We still haven't had any intense cold. It's been more like autumn than winter. The weather is all other the place.

Date: 2020-01-03 07:45 pm (UTC)Lorde, Sentinel AU takes me baaaack! There was that one point where it was such a popular trope, you know?
And, yeah, there are tons and tons of stuff to read. X____X

Oh yeah! And back is right, I was looking up a couple of Sentinel mailing lists I was on and realised they started 20 years ago. That's a lifetime!
So much to read! I still haven't made a dent yet.
