turlough has closed
mychemicalromance_daily today. I know how much work running a daily comm is, so if you follow the comm/have ever followed it, go tell Turlough how fantastic she is. Because she really is and has created something to be proud of and something that was a huge asset to our fandom.
When James finally goes back to work our cinema visits will tail off a little, but for now, when the weather is so bad, they tie in nicely to our daily walks.
Which is, we've been to see The Invisible Man yesterday, which was pretty great and very tense at times. And the day before, Emma, where James made the comment 'what's this about anyway?' and all I could think to say was, you know, the book? The pretty famous book by Jane Austen. But he had no idea what I was on about. I was looking at all the films we've seen this year and already our Unlimited ticket has paid for itself. That thing is seriously amazing and something I'd hate to give up if we had to cut back on spending.
I'm up to date with both Picard and Party of Five and am in the process of downloading the new Project Runway now, so that'll be watched soon. I'm still enjoying all of those shows, but on a very shallow level, Picard gets the scene of the week with a shirtless Santi again. I approve of this, very much so. I'm also enjoying the plot and twists, but you know, Santi...
Another storm has hit again this weekend, the third named storm in a month. The wind has just started to increase now meaning I could dry bedding earlier without worrying the quilt cover and sheet were going to get whipped from the line and get tangled in a tree. Though one corner of the quilt cover did end up in the birdbath, soaked up all the water and now has algae on it, so sigh, at that.
This last week Lucy has moved in with Kayleigh full time. It was a surprise as I'd been up a day or so earlier and she'd said she'd cleared out two drawers for Lucy, and then next thing I know she was moving in completely. But, they're very happy together so it can only be a good thing.
I was at Lush earlier spending half my birthday money -- I'm being a grown-up and keeping the other half for non-bubbly stuff, not that there's much but everything helps. I got three bubble bars and had a nice talk with the assistant who when I said I bought the bubble bars as they're more cost-effective than the bath bombs asked if I used a sieve for them, and no, no I do not. I've seen Lush insta fans use them but hadn't bought one myself. But, it makes sense as you put a bit of bubble bar in them, get as many bubbles as you need by putting the sieve under the tap, and then the remainder can dry for next time. I now have my own little sieve and will test it out very soon. Also, Karma bubble bars are coming back! Be still my heart *___*
On the way home, we were flagged down by a neighbour who said last night he'd called the police as about twenty teens were sitting around our car. For the last month or so kids/teens have been causing trouble in the town centre, which is about a minute walk from where we live, smashing bus windows and harassing people. It's not just locals but also others bussing in just to cause trouble, so much so that the police have brought in special measures that mean they can move on any groups without needing a reason. It seems some of the group decided to come onto the estate and sit next to our car. I assume to keep out of the wind as there was no damage, but even so, I'm glad the neighbours are vigilant as we can't see our car/garage as there's a row of houses between us and it.

Date: 2020-02-29 09:14 pm (UTC)Seeing you talk about the films you’ve seen always makes me wish I had a similar pass. I wish the nearest cinema was a little bigger and more active
When I saw he was top less I gasped and thought it know who’s gonna like this’😁
It’s just windy here but even so it’s annoying that we’ve had so many lately. What’s the deal with that?
I’m glad they’re happy together.🖤
Eww teenagers

Date: 2020-03-03 02:00 pm (UTC)I love our pass so much, and as you know, we get a load of use from it. Of course, it helps that we have a car so can drive there. I doubt I'd watch half as many films if we needed to get there via public transport.
Ahahaha, yes. I think my appreciation for Santi is known by now.
I'm so glad the wind has died down, it's still there but at least it's not at a damaging strength now.

Date: 2020-02-29 09:51 pm (UTC)Glad there was no damage to your car - or your neigbours - from the flock of teenagers!

Date: 2020-03-03 01:58 pm (UTC)My neighbour was so indignant about the teens. I'm glad he didn't go down to try and move them on though, it would have escaled things for sure.

Date: 2020-03-01 12:29 pm (UTC)I agree she does deserve to be happy. It's taken a while but she finally seems more at ease with herself and less grief-stricken. I'll miss Shauna because she is so friendly and outgoing and helped loads after mam's death. But Lucy loves Kayleigh, so that's all that matters.

Date: 2020-03-01 08:20 am (UTC)I hope Kayleigh and Lucy will really enjoy living together.
Yay for bubble bars! And I'm glad your car escaped unscathed.

Date: 2020-03-01 12:27 pm (UTC)I'm sure Kayleigh and Lucy will be happy, they're very much in the loved-up and honeymoon period of their relationship. It's quite sickening really *g*
I wouldn't have known anything about the teens/car if it wasn't for that neighbour. Thankfully it does seem they must have just been sheltering from the wind.

Date: 2020-03-01 10:40 am (UTC)That's so clever about the sieve and the bubble bars. I hope you have much happy bubble-bathing!
Glad your car was unharmed, but that's unnerving.

Date: 2020-03-01 12:25 pm (UTC)Durham opening an Odeon also helped loads as it's only a 6-mile drive, which is easily done.
The sieve idea is great and worked really well. I liked she told me as usually the assistants are all about selling as much product as possible, while this will make the bars last a lot longer.
Yeah, unnerving is right. But apparently my neighbour was on the job, he said he stood for about half an hour just watching them from his bedroom window.

Date: 2020-03-03 10:02 am (UTC)I think the Invisible Man would be too suspenseful for me; at least from the promos.
YAY LUSH!!

Date: 2020-03-03 10:12 am (UTC)It was very suspenseful. I need to stop going into films without fully knowing what they're going to be about.
Lush always gets a YAY! *g*

Date: 2020-03-03 09:23 pm (UTC)You have definitely used that unlimited ticket to the max the last couple of months! How many movies have you seen so far?
We seem to have escaped most of the the storm this time. It was a little windy on Sunday but it was nothing compared to the two others.
All the good luck to Kayleigh and Lucy. I hope they will be happy together for a long time!
You're being so serious and responsible not using all your money at Lush :-)
Your neighbour is a star! Those teenagers sound quite worrying. Hopefully you've seen the last of them after this.

Date: 2020-03-10 09:35 am (UTC)I'm not surprised, because you're right, ten years is an incredible amount of time. You did yourself and the fandom proud.
At a quick count, 15, though the ones in January are a bit hazy so it could be more. It'll die down once James is back at work, but the card really has been hammered recently.
I was at Kayleigh's the other day and she mentioned how Lucy wants marriage and kids, so it's very serious for them. Though, Lucy has just had to give away her dog which is really sad for her. Not just because of Kayleigh's cats but also as they both work full time it would have been alone far too much. She's broken-hearted about it but it's going to a good home.
My neighbour was excellent and very vigilent in the time he kept watching.

Date: 2020-03-09 08:46 pm (UTC)Anyhoo, I'm deffo a little behind with movies. Gotta go see The Invisible Man (which I've heard can be quite scary), Portrait of a Woman on Fire, and I want to sneak in a second viewing of Birds of Prey. Maybe I'll catch them this weekend? Hmm..
In surprising (to me) news, I've given up on Project Runway. Didn't even bother to watch the first episode of the 2-part Season Finale. I'm unsure if you've watch last week's episode, so I can't go into much detail abt the reasons why. So there we are.
It's so great when sales assistants give you a nudge toward stuff you'll actually like/need instead of pushing the newest thing at you. I can imagine you at Lush is similar to me at a bookstore, hahahaha.
Yikes at the teens hanging by your car. Though I'm also ??? at the fact that they might've traveled from other parts out of boredom? Weirdness.

Date: 2020-03-10 09:29 am (UTC)The Invisible Man had some shocks for sure. It's not my usual thing at all, but saying that, I did enjoy it. Though applied the side of the screen and not focussed on the action way of watching at times.
Portrait of a Woman on Fire hasn't hit here yet. I'll have to keep an eye out for it.
At this point, I'm watching PR mainly for Christian as the designers are very much in to the unlikeable side, especially Sergio. I can't believe he remains so unrepentant at copying famous looks, even when called out for that, and as for his causes. Enough already!

It is, especially as Lush staff are actively trained to approach customers and push the products. Which is annoying, so having this one woman not only not do that but give money-saving tips was great.

It's a huge thing right now. They travel from surrounding towns just to cause trouble, including smashing windows on busses which is ridiculous.

Date: 2020-03-10 05:52 pm (UTC)BTW, Portrait of a Woman on Fire is V. ARTSY. I'm throwing that in because I'm aware my film nerdiness can bias me this way and that, hahah.
The PR judges' fawning over Victoria (even after she MADE THE SAME 6 DRESSES IN A ROW) was half of the reason why I checked out for the season so close to the end. Sergio's petulance and willful obliviousness about COPYING FAMOUS DESIGNERS was the other half.
Yeahhhh, I hear you about Lush's sales assistants. I...have to admit that I avoid going into the local Lush stores because I legit am NOT comfortable with how eager-to-sell some of the staff have been. It's on me because I'm usually fairly sure of what I'm going to get as soon as I go inside a store. So enthusiastic!staff is something I find off-putting. /o\
IMO, Lush should take a page from Sephora in that they have 2 different color baskets. The red indicates that you'd like assistance while the black one says you're okay on your own. IJS.

Date: 2020-03-11 10:04 am (UTC)I'll still keep an eye out. I'll give most things a go apart from out and out horror.

I totally agree with you. My local shop is okay as they know me by sight now and when I go in I say I'm just there to check out the new ranges, but at Christmas it's terrible. You can see you're being eyed up when you walk through the door and then get pounced on by multiple temps.

That is such a fantastic idea. I've never heard of that before but can see it would be very useful.
