I've just had an hour in the sunshine in the garden, and feel good for getting my hands dirty. The greenhouse has been cleaned and de-mossed ready for the seeds to be transferred there. I've done some weeding, brushed and de-mossed the path, got rid of some rubbish and things are looking better out there.
Earlier we had a drive along the seafront and stopped at Lidl, and managed to get some apples and buns, and again, it was good to be out in the sunshine.
On Monday we had a lovely walk at Durham. It was sunny and we did a small circuit of the inner areas and had a coffee at a tiny shop tucked away in a corner. Which I'm glad about as, of course, everything started to change that afternoon.
Selfishly, I wish James was still off and could hunker up at home, but that is selfish as they're desperate for trained staff. Plus, they're being very careful with hygiene etc at his actual work. Plus, on a lighter note with all the companies offering free drinks to NHS workers atm he's not about to go thirsty while out and about any time soon.
I'm more worried for Corey tbh as he works in a nightclub meaning right now he's still dealing with the many many people who are still going out on the nights and then if they're forced to close there's a good chance he won't have a job. He does have a supervisor role and helps with deliveries etc. so hopefully he'll have something to do. But it's all up in the air. What I do know is I won't see him on Sunday for Mother's Day, which is a small thing I know, but still. I'd need to get the bus there as James will be at work and a lot of places would be shut so it makes sense not to travel, but logic doesn't completely wipe out the emotional reaction.
I very much think we'll end up locked down more at some point as many people aren't socially isolating at all. The fast-food restaurants have gone to take away only, the cinemas are shut, but still, people are congregating and pubs remain packed. Thankfully I stocked up on food, cat food and cat litter so will be fine in terms of that and obviously I'm used to getting a lot of entertainment online, but still, it's a worry.
I never thought I'd be so eager to hear what Boris Johnson has to say, but the daily updates from him have already become an important part of the day.
We've been catching up on some TV and have just started the newest season of Chicago Med, sadly it has a storyline I really don't like and I'm missing a character that's left and just, it's all a bit meh.
I didn't sign for the h/c exchange, the deadline crept up on me and instead of panic joining, I decided to work on and finish the two stories I have on the go. So you know, expect talk about them and no doubt me still not adding any words months from now.
And in much better news, our new kitty comes home tomorrow as his eye is finally better. So, expect much cat picspam from me in the immediate future.

Date: 2020-03-19 05:44 pm (UTC)I hope he’ll be ok🖤 free drinks for nhs workers is a great idea
I hope he’ll be ok too, I’m baffled that people are still going out to places like that
I only watched the one update yesterday and it made my already anxious mind worse.
*hugs tight*
Aww yay kitty! I love them

Date: 2020-03-20 03:03 pm (UTC)I don't get all the people going out to the pubs and clubs. I know Newcastle is a student city, but they should know better. Hopefully, it'll quieten down now the unis have closed.
I really don't like Boris, but am watching the updates every day to find out the new news. Otherwise, I try not to watch too much as it gets too much if it's on constantly.
He'll be here soon I hope.

Date: 2020-03-20 03:00 pm (UTC)And of course, for all these gestures made by companies, there are people complaining about how other jobs don't get "perks" like that :(

Date: 2020-03-20 05:48 am (UTC)Here's wishing the best for James and Corey in their respective work. And that's a real bummer that you won't get to see Corey for Mother's Day! I think it's important to acknowledge those disappointments even if they're not the big issues.
I am looking forward very much to the cat photos!

Date: 2020-03-20 08:04 am (UTC)Yeah, not seeing Corey on Sunday isn't a huge thing, we'll talk and I know that I don't need a specific day to know I'm loved as a mam. But it is disappointing.
I'm sure lots of cat photos will be posted :D

Date: 2020-03-21 06:31 pm (UTC)That's so sad you won't get to see Corey on Mother's Day. I'll keep my fingers crossed both he and James will stay safe!

Date: 2020-03-24 10:26 am (UTC)Well, Corey has lost his job for now. I just hope the government pay promise kicks in for him. They say they'll pay 80% of wages for anyone losing work, but while Corey works four full shifts a week his contract only says four hours. So he's worried he'll get 80% of that, which he couldn't live on.

Date: 2020-03-24 06:51 pm (UTC)It's not as strict as many places yet, for example, we don't need to fill in forms to go outside. But who knows what will happen in the future.
