I was amused this morning to wake up to a bottle of mayo on my front doorstep. I realised I'd ran out yesterday and needed some for James' bait, but didn't want to go to the shops for just one thing. So asked Kayleigh to get me some as she was grocery shopping at the time. She said she'd drop it off before work, and did so, I just didn't expect that to be so early.
James had his sickness meeting yesterday and has been put on a trial of six months of shifts that end no later than midnight. He was also put on a stage one sickness warning, which is actually good as we were both expecting a stage two. However, they said they could see he was actively trying to help himself with lifestyle changes to go along with med changes so were happy to stay with a stage one.
He also discovered the Krispie Kreme doughnut place near his work has reopened to NHS staff only and are giving away free coffee and ring doughnuts to people going through the drive-thru. While this is good of them -- I assume they're working out social distancing measures and making changes in store for a reopening at some point and so are experimenting with NHS staff -- he'll have to remember getting doughnuts before every shift wouldn't really fit in with those lifestyle changes, so coffee only I think.
I've just been chatting with Corey. His house share lease is up at the end of August and he was saying if he's still furloughed he'll have to come home as he won't be able to lease anywhere new. That isn't an issue at all but at the same time, it's a shame as he had plans to get a place with his girlfriend where it would be just the two of them and not another house share situation. Sadly, with him working in a nightclub I can't see him going back to work anytime soon, and the terms of his furlough mean he can't apply to work anywhere else.
Murphy was extra Murphy this morning, running around like a crazy thing. I also came down to find the doughnut snapped off the cat tower, though, I can't really blame him for that as it was wobbling yesterday. So I've raided the spare cat tower again and got a new post and reattached the doughnut, so he's sleeping happily on the bottom one while Milo has claimed the top spot.
It's a very doughnut heavy post today it seems.
Yesterday I made more banana muffins but added blueberries too, and again they were delicious. Due to a lack of muffin cases, I improvised and used tin foil moulded into muffin trays, and it worked nicely, but now I've run out of tin foil too. I still have ingredients to make muffins, and am tempted to just risk greasing the trays and not using liners at all.
Stumptown has just started here and I've seen some people really like the show, so it's now on the planner and I'll watch the first episode tonight. Now though, I'm off to watch the last Prodigal Son episode as I need to know what happens.

Date: 2020-05-02 03:47 pm (UTC)After graduating uni and getting a decent job Corey was looking forward to taking that next step of moving in with his long term girlfriend. And now he may have to move home again. It would make financial sense and this will always be his home, but it's disappointing that his plans have been stalled.
I hope your daughter manages to find work.

Date: 2020-05-02 05:56 pm (UTC)That’s good, I’m glad it went ok and yay free stuff for him
That’s a shame, I hope things work out
Awww Murphy🖤 he’s such a mad cutie.
Ohh I’ve never thought to have banana and blueberry, sounds nice. We have a similar issue with cases I think.
I’ve seen ads for it but I don’t think it’s a channel we have to watch alas

Date: 2020-05-03 04:40 pm (UTC)Murphy is a crazy thing!
Banana and blueberry went together nicely, and finally the banannas have been used.

Date: 2020-05-02 08:29 pm (UTC)Yays for James' sickness meeting going well (though, yeah, like you, I'm not sure if donuts every day is a good thing.) ;) Ooof, I feel for Corey. It's far from an ideal situation. Here's hoping things will mend sometime in the near future. <3
WHO SNAPPED THE DONUT??? (Murphy. We ALL know it was him, LOL).
I watched the first episode of Stumptown and half of the second and liked them both a lot. Unfortch, the time slot didn't work for me at all, but then the show was available on Hulu so I've added it to my queue and do intend to (at some point in the summer) go back in and watch it. *crossing all crosables.*

Date: 2020-05-03 03:48 pm (UTC)Not even one doughnut but three of them! Getting a coffee, yeah, but the doughnuts will have to be a once a week thing.
The timing has been terrible for Corey in terms of the potential move. But, at least he did get furloughed and is getting paid, and surely things will have to get better relatively soon.
Ahahaha, you already know him well. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was him.
You know, I only have very vague ideas what Stumptown is about but so many people are positive about it I knew I was going to give it a go when I saw it was about to premier. I'm glad you've added to that reaction.

Date: 2020-05-02 11:35 pm (UTC)And that is a pity for Corey and his gf not to be able to get their own place. So much disruption, and though we know the cause of safety is worth it, it's still hard on everyone losing out on things!
That's very resourceful of you to provide the cats with reinforcements though. ♥

Date: 2020-05-03 03:44 pm (UTC)Yeah, disruption for everyone in so many different ways. You're right, it has to be done for very good reasons, but I feel for everyone negatively affected. I also hope things are going okay for you and yours.
I'm getting to be a dab hand at modifying the cat tower. Thank goodness for that spare one.

Date: 2020-05-03 05:23 am (UTC)I used to pour the muffin batter into a cake pan, then cut the muffin-cake into squares. Worked just as well, with a lot less fuss and bother. You may need to bake it a little longer; keep an eye out and test it.

Date: 2020-05-03 03:41 pm (UTC)I did exactly what you suggested this morning and it worked well. You're right, it does take longer to bake but the finished product tasted just as good.

Date: 2020-05-04 07:08 pm (UTC)It must be so frustrating for Corey - and everyone else in the same situation. I really hope things will ease up SOON.
It really sounds like Murphy was extra Murphy that night! Go you for fixing it!
Banana muffins with added blueberries sounds delicious!

Date: 2020-05-07 02:46 pm (UTC)I hope they ease soon, too. Apparently some of the lockdown will relax from Monday, though it hasn't been said what that will entail.
Murphy is often extra Murphy!
Banana and blueberry muffins really are delicious. Now that I've managed to find some muffin cases I'll probably make more tomorrow. I'd do it today but have the dreaded shirt ironing to do.

Date: 2020-05-07 02:31 pm (UTC)Nope, the terms of his furlough say he can't apply elsewhere. It's great that he is getting the money, but he's going out of his mind stuck inside.
Getting a place with his girlfriend would have been such a big step for him, too.
