Aug. 19th, 2020 12:29 pmSibs dinner was good last night. It was lovely to see my brother and catch up with all of his news.
I did think it was going to be called off just before though. First Kayleigh messaged to say she'd reversed into a bollard, then James messaged to say he wasn't feeling well, which went to he'd taken himself off the phones, had time outside in the fresh air, and had then fallen over and was being checked by the paramedics, which I guess is a plus to working in Ambulance headquarters.
Anyway, Kayleigh's car was fine to drive, just having cosmetic damage so she picked me up as it was raining. Meanwhile, James' work had sent him home in a taxi as they didn't want him to drive so he was having to come to the pub to get my keys as he didn't have his on him.
The doctor suspects his kidney infection has started again, so as our car is in Newcastle I had to walk and pick up more antibiotics, meanwhile, James was trying to arrange a lift at some point to get his car because we're pretty much stuck without it and a taxi would have cost £30. I have to admit, I was grumpy about the whole situation this morning because it feels like he just keeps getting on top of things health-wise and something else comes along. Not helped by the fact that apparently his back has been hurting the last few days, specifically the area where he had the kidney pain, and he said nothing while not drinking nowhere near enough at work the last two days because it's so award for him in terms of buttons etc. And I know he can't help this infection but seriously, this morning I was all, stop the world, I want to get off.
So I went stomping off to the doctors, sweating all the time as it's so humid out there and they didn't have all the antibiotics he needed and I swear, if they'd said to come back later today I would have... well, I'd probably have said fine and then muttered to myself angrily while walking away. But they gave enough for a few days and I didn't have to mutter angrily but I did call in to buy a iced skinny latte from Costa on the way home.
Meanwhile, Kayleigh's dad only came home from hospital yesterday and she's arranged carers etc, but his health has taken a big downturn overnight so she's messaging today at the end of her cope.
But yeah, sibs dinner was a bright spot in all of that.

Date: 2020-08-19 04:13 pm (UTC)Once the antibiotics kick in he should feel better soon. Plus, my brother is going to pick our car up tonight so that'll be good. I feel so cut off without it.

Date: 2020-08-20 03:36 pm (UTC)I enjoyed that iced skinny latte so much. And needed it, annoyance made me steam up the hill from the doctors into town.

Date: 2020-08-20 06:50 pm (UTC)Oh no, poor James! I'll keep my fingers crossed the new antibiotics will help and that he will remember to drink enough!
Of course it was humid and icky when you had to walk to the doctors! Things like that never happens on cool and breezy days. You definitely deserved that latte!

Date: 2020-08-21 03:46 pm (UTC)Well, James is at the stage where he's still feeling pretty sick, but hopefully, that will change soon. I'm making sure he drinks loads and giving the beady eye when his glass level doesn't change fast enough.
I did deserve that latte! I hate the humid weather so much, it's the worst, even more so when you have to wear a mask when you're going inside.

Date: 2020-08-21 12:26 pm (UTC)(Also -- I lost my commenting mojo last week, and I feel bad, 'cos at the very least I wanted to acknowledge your new doorbell, which -- YES. BIRDS. YES. And also your courgette pic, which made me seethe with envy! But now I feel like too much time has passed and -- yeah. I shouldn't be allowed online. The responsibility -- it's too great. Too large!)

Date: 2020-08-21 03:42 pm (UTC)Well, I will say I'm happy to have comments at any time, but also perfectly happy for people to lurk, so whatever makes you happy. But yeah, the bird doorbell is something else, as are the courgette plants. We're in the middle of a storm here right now with really high winds, those winds have flattened one of the plants at the back and revealed a courgette that's ridiculously big.
