In the absence of anything new to talk about, some photos. Two from the garden and one cat.

I found this monster courgette the other day, it was hidden at the back of the raised bed and I'm showing it next to the coffee machine for scale. No doubt there are others that size in there too. I'm rather afraid to check.

This one sunflower grew in the courgette bed. I assume it came from a seed from the bird feeder as I certainly didn't plant it. But it looks very cheerful and next year I think I'll plant more myself as they are lovely flowers.

And one of Murphy because I think he looks cute as a button in it.

I like that accidental sunflower - it's very cheery indeed. planting more next year sounds like a great idea

Ahahahaha, if he wasn't so sick still I would be tempted to wield the weapon.

I like the sunflower even more because it's accidental, and was determined to grow in the middle of the monster courgettes.

That is a monster courgette and a very cute cat. I applaud the planting of sunflowers, too, though I had by far the greatest success with something that turned into a *bush* of sunflowers. Not tall, but So Many Flowers.

I agree with A, I love you have some a perfect icon.

Sunflowers are beautiful flowers, and I intend to plant many next year because the one I can see out of the window really is cheery.

Such a cute Murphy-cat!

I thought of you the other night - one one of my walks, I spotted a squash that was growing on a vine making a bid for freedom over an 8-foot brick wall - the back wall of a house facing another street, so I can't imagine the gardener would nec. know that they're generating free-range squash on the pavement one street over! Reminded me of your courgette escapades!

Murphy does like a good pose.

I love that escaping squash story :D Though if the gardener is anything like me they will be glad of people taking the produce. When it comes to the squash family I've found you go from none to out of control amounts in days.

I wish my tomatoes would grow as well as the courgettes, I can deal with a glut of tomatoes, courgettes not so much. I mean, I like them, but yet again I'm at the point they're taking over.

Hopefully you can see via a direct link. Though I actually upload via LJ and when I went there to get the code it seems there's a problem with scrapbook, so I've uploaded to DW for the first time, so lets see if this works.

That is indeed a monster of a courgette! And I don't like the way it's looming over the poor coffee maker. I'm sure its intentions are far from honourable!

Your sunflower is so happymaking! Sunflowers are incredibly easy to grow in my experience. I'm sure that if you plant a bunch of seeds next spring you'll have a whole garden full of them! And you'll get lots of seeds too for the birds if you let the flower heads remain so the seeds can ripen.

Murpy is so cute in that photo! But I distrust that angelic face!

You know, I think you're right. I'm sure that courgette is plotting destruction.

I am going to grow sunflowers next year, I'll plant them along the fence, and hopefully will get a nice row of them.

No, I wouldn't trust Murphy either.

Accidental sunflowers are the best! There are a couple of them on my block right now, springing right up out of the pavement. They're at least six feet tall. Nature!
