Sep. 29th, 2020 05:11 pmI upgraded my phone a few days ago. The new one had a rather limited amount of notification sounds, so I've been trying one out of Yoda announcing messages. It makes me laugh, but also starts with this sort of cackle which is very unnerving when it comes from my phone when I'm charging it during the night.
Lucy's sister friended me on FB and has added me to a group chat because she's arranging a high tea for after the wedding. It's a lovely idea and means I've an excuse to get a fascinator to go with my new dress as she wants it to be formal, but I am worried about COVID restrictions. They're getting tightened up even further in the NE from midnight tonight, making it illegal to meet anyone inside unless they're in your bubble/support bubble. I know weddings can have gatherings up to 15 people at the moment, but I have no idea how that ties in with these new regulations. I'm a witness so will see her marry regardless, but everything else seems so unsure.
The bank lady didn't phone yesterday but redeemed herself today. When James called her yesterday she said the appointment had been cancelled by us, which, nope. We'd been sitting with all our documents ready for the hour-long appointment. She couldn't explain how it had happened but arranged a new appointment for Thursday. Then today she phoned again and said she'd been lying in bed trying to work out what had happened, and had got an idea that she checked out when she was at work. It turns out they had a very old phone number of James' on file, probably the one he had when we first took out the mortgage a long time ago, and it must have been recycled by EE. The person who has it now would have received a text message saying about the appointment and any info needed, and in that message, you can also cancel the upcoming appointment, which apparently they've done, twice.
We also had more hassle with the closmat when it tripped again, which led to the actual closomat engineer having to come up from down south to look at it, and he said the unit was fine and it was the fuse box, meaning the electrician from yesterday had to come back again. While he wasn't out and out rude it was apparent he thought he didn't need to be there and pointedly said he'd finished fitting yet another box as he was leaving. Hopefully, it doesn't trip again because I suspect he'll be most put out to be called out again.
Blood donating day again tomorrow. This time I'll remember to take my own drink as I can't see the tea table being back yet.

Oh no! Good job she figured it all out
Good luck with donating

Date: 2020-09-30 07:48 am (UTC)I know the wedding will go ahead, it's just every after that's up in the air. Until recently it was very much allowed to have 15 people celebrating after, now I have no idea.
Yeah, I was glad she did figure it out. I was starting to think the bank had some kind of 'do not lend to these people' on our file.
Thank you, though it won't be until Friday as I mixed up the dates. At least I saw before heading to Newcastle today.

Date: 2020-09-30 07:43 am (UTC)I will share pictures, but first I need to find a suitable fascinator. At least blue is a common colour.

Date: 2020-09-30 02:46 am (UTC)It's good to hear there was a reason behind the ban appointment misfires, however frustrating. Hopefully it won't happen again now that the phone number issue is fixed!
Phooey on the electrician for that attitude.
And JC and Gerard both admire you very much for undergoing the stick for the blood draw!

Date: 2020-09-30 07:36 am (UTC)Yeah, I was so glad when she phoned as I was starting to think we had some kind of note on our file that said, 'computer says no!' if we needed any more finance. The lady seemed bemused about why the person with the number now would cancel the appointments when they came to their phone, but I suspect a lot of people would do so, thinking it was some kind of scam.
The electrician was very grumpy. I know it's not the best job as the closomat toilet in the one downstairs in a very small room so there's not much room to move about, but it still needed fixing.
Well thank you to Gerard and JC. Though they'll have to keep their admiration for two days as I got my dates mixed up and am not there until Friday *g*

Date: 2020-09-30 11:36 am (UTC)It's all so unsettled at the moment, knowing what you can do today, let alone tomorrow or later on, and what's legal or safe (which don't seem to be the same thing), I hope things settle out enough that it's a lovely wedding <3
Good on the mortgage lady for working it all out, but how bloody frustrating, hopefully that'll be it now (and for the closomat, too)

Date: 2020-09-30 04:34 pm (UTC)You're right, legal and safe can be so different. I always think that when I think about the fact it's fine to go eat in restaurants, drink in pubs, go to the cinema, and yet I can't go visit Corey or he can't visit here. But, I'm looking forward to the wedding, even if it ends up only being the ceremony they're so happy together it'll be a great day.
The mortgage lady was great and I respect her a lot for phoning when she'd worked it out. Now, hopefully the telephone appointment goes well tomorrow.

Date: 2020-10-03 10:48 am (UTC)I keep thinking about that and laughing, what an image *g*
I do actually have to wear a mask, though Kayleigh and Lucy don't. So, still have to find one to match my dress and fascinator.

Date: 2020-10-01 06:55 pm (UTC)A high tea after the wedding sounds wonderful. I'll keep my fingers crossed it will happen. Also look forward to seeing photos of you in your new dress and with a fascinator!
I hope today's meeting with the bank lady went well! (Really cool that she went to so much work to figure out what had gone wronge with the earlier appointments!)
The closmat problem sounds very frustrating. I really hope it's been properly fixed now!

Date: 2020-10-03 10:45 am (UTC)We're still not sure if the high tea can happen. Right now you can't meet anyone outside of your bubble, inside or out, but it also still says you can have a gathering of 15 after a wedding which is a total contradiction in rules. But, photos will happen even if it is just a ceremony.
Sadly the bank meeting didn't work out, but at least it actually happened this time.
Yep, closomat is fully fixed. Thank goodness. I could reset it each time it tripped but James couldn't reach the switch, which totally failed at the whole point of him having independence.

Date: 2020-10-02 09:49 pm (UTC)I really hope you're able to make the wedding as special as possible - it's so hard to plan anything at the moment, and it doesn't feel like there's a great deal of logic in the restrictions, which just makes it harder.

Date: 2020-10-03 10:41 am (UTC)Yeah, as of now Kayleigh and Lucy can get married with two witnesses only, and I still don't know if the gathering after can happen. I know that they can celebrate further in the future, but it seems the day itself could be over so fast.
