The getting money in one hand and it going out of the other trend continues.
We've been putting some stuff up for sale and sold one of our huge Odeon foyer posters -- seriously, the things are big, much bigger than our super king size bed when taking photos. Then two nights ago someone broke into our car. They smashed the passenger side window, rooted around, and took nothing but a half packet of paracetamol. The same night another car in the square was broken into and an empty bag taken and another car had its wing mirrors smashed off.
I have to admit I was a bit down for a bit because it seems every time we get ahead somehow we end up going back a step. But, thinking of positives. Yes, it's an excess to pay, but at least we have comprehensive insurance and the window will be fixed by tomorrow. Some people are scum, but we also have lovely neighbours, one coming around first thing to tell us what had happened and another going out and sweeping up all the glass for us.
I have an appointment at the dentist on Thursday, not as fast as I hoped but we are in the middle of another lockdown and I'm lucky they still are doing emergency appointments. Thankfully I'm not in any pain, so waiting isn't that big of an issue.
The lymphoedema appointment went well and I now have a shiny new wrap. It's a bit like wrestling on a sticky centipede in the mornings and I've found I've had to put on an old compression stocking on top when doing any decent amount of walking, otherwise the wrap slips, but the compression is good and I think it will make a difference. I need to phone my nurse on Monday and say how I'm getting on, and if I like it will get a wrap for the other leg too. He did say I could have a wrap for my knees and thighs if I wanted, but while I'm sure they will have excess fluid it'll be tiny compared to my lower legs and is not really visible, so will pass on those.
I've started cashing in my earnings for my surveys and micro-tasks so have gift vouchers to spend, so once the car has an actual window and not a plastic sheet that's exactly what I'll be doing.
To end on some more positive news. A while back we invited my MiL and FiL to come here on Christmas day and stay to Boxing day. My MiLs reaction was 'we'll see' which experience shows is the parental version of 'not going to happen'. But, my Sil told me a few days ago my MiL has been trying to walk a bit so she can build her strength up so she could come to ours. Considering she's barely moved from her recliner for months now, that was amazing to hear. Now all I can do is hope she keeps trying and the lockdown doesn't get extended.

Date: 2020-11-15 12:58 pm (UTC)I'm so glad you've managed to get the dentist - they're still very hit or miss here and I don;t suspect that'll change until this *hand waves* is all bye with.
Good news about your MiL - I'll keep good thoughts that the plans will all come off okay.

Date: 2020-11-15 02:47 pm (UTC)I was so happy to get an appointment at the dentist as I really wasn't sure if they'd be open or not. it's why I'm not fussed at all about having to wait so long. I'm just glad to get in at all.
Thank you! Problem is, of course, no one knows what the hell will happen with lockdown and tiers after the 2nd. It could be anything from six people being able to meet inside to no one being able to meet at all. But, the invitation has given her something to aim for and look forward to, so hopefully it can happen.

Date: 2020-11-15 02:14 pm (UTC)Good luck at the dentist!
Oh that does sound awkward *hugs*
That’s good news!
I thought of you the other day, there’s a Christmas film coming out soon that has one of the guys I recognised from Schitt’s Creek (but damn I can’t remember the name of it now!)

I'll have to keep an eye out for that film. I'm always up for a new Christmas film with actors I like.

Date: 2020-11-15 06:31 pm (UTC)That's what we were thinking, that the invite would be an incentive. In previous years she's gone to my SiLs, but as that household already has five people in it they would have gone over the six people allowed in a house. Which wouldn't be an issue at ours, but then the rules changed yet again. I'm keeping my fingers crossed meet ups can happen this Christmas but things are changing so fast I suspect we won't know for a few weeks yet.

That's good news indeed about your MiL! I hope all relevant conditions will allow the visit to take place.
My sister has invited me to come to their place on Christmas and I do want to go but there have been more warnings here too. Right now we've left it that I'll drive down and we'll hand off gifts to each other, but we'll wait to see whether I come inside to spend time with them or whether we just go for a masked walk outdoors.

It's so hard making plans right now. You make them and then things change and really all you can do is hope for the best but prepare for the worst. I hope you get to spend some inside significant time with your family.
