The electricians eventually came yesterday afternoon and were here for hours. I thought they were just coming to check everything was okay, but no. There was banging and crashing and they blew the fuses upstairs, and then fixed them. Apparently, while the heater works it wasn't actually connected to the solar panels on the roof, so all the sunny days when I was happy the sun was magically heating the water, nothing was actually happening. Or happening now as there was a faulty connector so the roofer has to come change that then the electrician come back to turn things on properly.

Changing the subject, I'm loving Aldi's response to being sued by Marks and Spencer for caterpilla cake copyright.

Aldi has played a blinder social media wise with a free Cuthbert campaign going on, and today they've put out a plea on FB for all the main shop's caterpillar cakes to band together in aid of charity. Copy-pasting as I couldn't work out how to directly link to a FB post.

The electrician said it should be a quick fix, but I'll believe that when it happens.

While I understand M&S protecting their copyright the whole thing is ridiculous. I think Aldi made a good decision to react with humour.

I can't wait to watch Downton at Christmas time with a Costa Christmas drink in hand. I missed that so much last year.

Oh wow, what a rigmarole! To think that after all this there are still two more visits needed - just, wow. Sending you wishes for fortitude in the face of this!

I hope the cakes raise a lot of money for the causes. Definitely sounds like something worth participating in!

Thankfully one visit should be short, just a case of swapping a sensor or something on the roof. I don't need to be in for that as they don't need to come in the house. And I'm hoping the second visit will just be switching things on. *fingers crossed*

I'm highly amused by the whole caterpillar situation. Asda, one of the supermarkets called out to by Aldi has said they'll take part, but M&S themselves have said no, though have kept the joking tone on social media. Apparently they're serious about their trademark infringement plans, which is fair enough I guess.

Aldi have got a better PR person than M&S, for sure! And I bet there's many a mother whose kid was raised on The Very Hungry Caterpillar who has baked an occasional caterpillar cake, without asking M&S for permission. Hah.

I remain amused at the caterpillar comments on social media. I saw Asda said they'd join in with a charity caterpillar, so hopefully, they mean it and actual money will be raised from this.

You're right though, the caterpillar cake isn't that unique. As proven by all the other available versions.

Disappointing is right. I noticed last night that they'd hidden a rubber pipe between the tank and the pipes in the airing cupboard by pulling a flap of wallpaper over it. Granted, it's at floor level but you'd think they'd go into the actual airing cupboard itself and not the landing.

The guy said the next appointment with him would be him just turning the system on. But, the way things are going I won't believe that until it happens.

I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT DOWNTON. I really hope I'm good to go and see it in the cinema with my Mum again.

The caterpillar cake thing is so stupid - they were super fashionable for people to make for kids parties when I was wee, long before M&S got in on the act, I don't see how they can hope to win the court case - but real kudos to Aldi for responding like that :D

I'm still thrilled about the new Downton Film and am interested in what direction it will go. I mean, they can't really have Carson coming back again. I hope you do get to see it with your mum. My wish is I'll get to see it with a Costa Christmas drink clutched in my hand.

I hope they don't win the court case, simply because of what you said, caterpillar cakes have been around forever, there's nothing unique about them.

The song and video really grabbed me. I'm not even sure why as I'm not a fan of either of them normally. Guess it's just one of those things that swoop in and have me playing on repeat.
